Canon PowerShot G10: better price than EOS 5D Mark II

This is Canon’s PowerShot G10 that some say is overshadowed by the EOS 5D Mark II, but looking at the price of the 5D Mark II, the G10 is certainly better for those looking for a higher-end digital camera without the high cost.
Canon’s PowerShot G10 features a 14.7 megapixel sensor, RAW mode, a 5x optical zoom on a 28mm wide-angle optical image stabilized lens, and Canon’s latest DIGIC 4 image processor.
While we do not have an exact date of release, we do know it’s due some time in October 2008 for $499.99. If you want top features and a good price, then the G10 is a great option.

Comparing the 5D Mark II to the G10 is one the most profoundly silly things I’ve encountered. Come on Daniel, the title of your article on the G10 is misleading, and completely pointless. I would be so bold as to say that it’s a Cheap Shot.
The G10 is a robust point and shoot. It is NOT a DSLR like the 5D, and never will be.
Most serious photographers would go for something like the G10, as an alternative to carrying their DSLR and all of its lenses when they go out on the town or on vacation, etc.
The 5D Mark II is competitively priced next to other full frame cameras on the market at this time. Eventually, the manufacturing process for full frame sensors will make cameras like the 5D more affordable.
This is rather ridiculous to compare the G10 with the 5D MII… Seriously… ^^
5D Mark II costs almost six times of a G10 but it is well worth it if you love photography. Its sibling the 1Ds Mark III cost nearly as much as a Korean car. Yike! Unless you are a pro I don’t think you would justify yourself to get one. G10 is a very nice to have to carry around every day to work or party. It prices nicely. I definitely will get one. Just in time for leaves to turn yellowish but the 5D Mark II won’t be here until all leaves were on the ground. Darn it!
I like the call the Gx series my “party camera”. It’s a great camera for its size and the ability to grab it and go and come back with some great shots, but to compare is quite silly as has been pointed out. If you’re not wanting to stand out and want to travel light this is a great camera!
So I’m wondering here, What is going on??? Have these reviewers even picked up a camera? or know the difference between a compact point and shoot, and a D- SLR? It’s really funny to be getting expert sounding reviews from such.
