Microsoft Xbox 360 price cuts increases sales by 100-percent

Personally do not know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, many will say that it is a good thing when price cuts are involved. The lowest priced gaming console in the US is the Xbox 360 by Microsoft and since cutting the price they have increased its sales by 100-percent.

Microsoft has reported that its sales of all Xbox 360 consoles are up by 100% compared to the previous weekend.

They claim that one model in particular sold 6-times the previous weekend rate, will this ever beat the PS3 or the Nintendo Wii is another question we put forward to you.

Of course it’s a good thing for M$ and the consumer if there’s a price cut and they sell more consoles, how can it be bad? It also means the M$ can manufacture the 360 with very little or no loss and can make the money through games sales as has always been the case. The PS3 is the better made machine but $ony won’t be reaping the rewards because game sales are slow and they’ll still be making a loss on each machine sold.

Someone should break the news to this guy that the XBOX 360 already won the console war a long time ago. BTW Rock band 2 ships today for XBOX 360…..and Gears of War 2, Call of Duty 5 are just around the corner. aahhhh so sweet!

  3. david says:

The 360 won the console war? what planet are you on?

The 360 will definitely finish way, way last in this generation.

BTW That Amazon link posted was interesting. Interesting because there isn’t a 360 in the top 30 while the PS3 and Wii are both in the top 10.

‘Personally do not know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, ‘ ???

Besides having terrible grammar, that is the stupidest sentence I’ve read so far today! But, in your defense, the day is still young!

    Rofl @ Haligoni

You sir are in your own fantasy land. Wii is so far ahead at thgis point that its not even a competition. Not to mention that sony has been outselling M$ in every territory for months now.

At this point the 360 will be lucky if it hold on to second. So pretty much you have no clue what you are talking about.

  6. Haligonian says:

LOL pure fanboyism. The Wii is certainly not next gen and is therefore not included in this “war”. $ony is still clinging to the hope that legions of ppl will suddenly rush out to buy a P$3 but by then the war will be long over. Rock Band 2 launching on the Xbox 360 is just the latest evidence that $ony has been firmly cemented as an also-ran. The Video/Movie store on Live has destroyed any reason to buy yet more expensive $ony equipment a la Blu-Ray.

As a consumer there is no compelling reason to buy a P$3 and there are no killer exclusive titles on the horizon. I might buy a Wii if it comes down in price though…

Haligonian your theory is off man, I can agree with you that the Wii is not next-gen but it is a console for this generation there for it is in the competition, so yea, the Wii is still winning. As for the PS3 having no selling points well their your dead wrong, the fact that you can download movies on the 360 doesn’t beat blu-ray, you can do the same thing on PS3 and it has Blu-ray there for PS3>360. Next GAMES, you say the PS3 has no good GAMES coming, hows littlebig planet, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, MAG, God of War 3, Final Fantasy 13 and 13 versus, Bioshock, Rockband 2 (Yea it’s on PS3 to, it launches first on the 360 big deal) and yea Call of Duty 5, MotorStrom Pasific Rift, so on and so forth, you named 3 360 games, 2 of them are on PS3 anyway, so your argument fails there to. The 360 will get a sales boost from the price drop but the PS3 will still sell and when its price finally drops again, game over man game over.

  8. Slippy Sloppy says:

I own all three consoles and love all three consoles. The Wii is best for fun games and using new and intuitive methods of control but the graphics are poor. The 360 has excellent graphics (the best of the three imo) and a huge selection of great games but is extremely noisy and has poor build quality. The PS3 is a quality piece of kit, well manufactured and a great media centre for games and movies though it suffers from fewer games and inferior cross platform conversions.

Arguing over which is best will never stop, partly because people are passionate about their gaming and their investment, but ultimately in this generation it’s pointless. The only time people who should be up in arms are those who’ve been let down by their own hardware company. We’re lucky there’s no Atari Jaguar, Sega Saturn or Dreamcast. We have three excellent machines with huge backing, so no matter which console we choose we haven’t been let down. It’s the voice of reason but nobody will listen.

  9. Haligonian says:

Agreed. There wouldn’t be a 360 if $ony hadn’t come out with the playstation $ony would never have gotten into on-line gaming if it weren’t for XBOX LIVE.

Blu-Ray certainly is not better then downloads however! Sure if you want to drive to a Blockbuster and go thru all that hastle and extra expense to get what I can download in seconds….but I’ll take the convenience of downloading movies thanks. It’s almost 2009 and I’ll never buy a disc again. Microsoft is the company of the future while $ony still clings to the past a la Beta of the 80’s. Old thinking in a new world imo.
