Large Hadron Collider: No Big Bang For 2 Weeks

Today we have all heard the media hype about the Large Hadron Collider and how the end of the world could be today, well if that does in fact happen it will not be for a few more weeks yet.

The Big Bang Test and Cern atom smasher has worried millions of people around the world; with many of them believing that the Big Bang will happen today. This turns out not to be true, they are flipping the switch but it will take a couple of weeks to get both beams going in opposite directions and in alignment.

As we write this post the most expensive experiment and biggest particle accelerator has started, and it will likely answer questions physicists never thought they’d get answers to. We will update you over the days leading up to the Big Bang, but for now the very first collisions will not be for a couple of weeks until they have aligned the beams in both directions of the 17 mile tunnel.

You all have no sense of curiosity, and are also easily tricked by conglomerate news corporations trying to scare the shit out of you for ratings. This experiment is an incredible oppurtunity to further our knowledge of the natural universe, yet everyone is frightened of a huge blackhole occuring from a tiny area on this planet the size only comparable to a star post supernova.

Collisions of sub atomic particles will not tear a hole in the space time fabric. And it will not cause a black hole that kills everyone. Stop watching movies and pick up a book, oh wait reading isn’t cool in this culture. That must be why groundbreaking scientific research is done outside of America. I love scientific programs, even when the general consensus is against them. If It weren’t for NASA we would not have WD-40. Can you imagine living without that stuff! And what about all the people that bad mouthed the Hubble telescope or all the bad-mouthing of flying faster than the speed of sound? There was thinking that the plane would be ripped apart and all kinds of other catastrophic events happen as a result of breaking the barrier. And the same with the nuclear bomb tests in the 40′s. There were scientists that thought that the atmosphere would be set ablaze.
Scientists are intelligent and enjoy life, contrary to what you may believe. If there was data to show that everything in existence would be torn apart on a sub-atomic level by this test, they would not be doing it. But the fact is that the chance of the big bang occurring through an experiment like this is so improbable its not even a concern. The dynamics involved in the big bang were entirely different than what we have today. Even the laws of physics are different than then.
If I were asked what I think they will find, I would say: A lot of things BUT nothing pertaining to the big bang. It is rather unlikely to have the same circumstances in a small collider that also existed billions of years ago. And yes I say small because I am comparing it to the expanse of space. The universe with all the forces that come into play on both the micro and macro level of the universe, this collider is tiny, a speck. Trying to re-create the forces that were at play back in the beginning of our infinite cosmos in a 17 mile collider seems absurd. There are things that can be done in colliders has been astounding and ground breaking. But to attempt to re-create the BIG BANG, and to push this in the press so hard seems like a set up for failure. All I have seen is the spending of 7,024,853,575.69 USD on a project that may not even produce the results desired. Imagine that.
Do you remember when you were a kid and your parents told you not to brag? I am fully expecting this project to disappear into the woodwork in a few years due to cost overruns in upgrades and operations, difficulty and excessive cost in maintenance, low results yield, and/or public sentiment.

You people are so stupid all there doing is making a black hole the size of of a pin that only lasts for about 5 seconds and then it will explode like a miniture big bang. When it explodes it will have the same particles as what it had in the big bang, there is not going to be a actully big bang or massive black hole, god dammit people do you really think the goverment and secret services would let them go through with it if it did?

this experiment is pathetic, if there is so much as a little risk the world could end in scientists trying to cure cancer then what is the point !? we dont get a say in this , scientists should just leave the world alone ! its nature and they are messing around with it ! i wont be suprised if it is not a good outcome! nature shouldnt be messed with! we could lose our lives because scientists want to find out answers to questions,! what if the scientists are wrong like the weather forecast is sometimes? its idiotic ! and i doubt the whole world has had a say in this stupid experiment ! think about what you are doing ! and if you are bored find other ways to cure cancer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please explain which “puzzle book” contains answers to the creation of the universe and other metaphysical/cosmological questions scientists have been trying to find out for aeons? Please tell me so I can contact CERN right away, by goly the whole time we’ve been experimenting we should have been looking in the library!

In closing, some of you might need to actually do a little bit of research on this subject. You’ll find that what CERN is doing happens in nature daily, and has happened something in the order of a few hundred billion times already (and Earth is still here). I’m more scared of stupid people driving me to suicide than the LHC experiments.

This experiment is the most exciting thing to happen since men walked on the moon. In fact it is so technically amazing that even if no results are found it will have been worth it for what we learned in the process.
Just take a look at how this has been made. I am not a scientist but even I can see that it is probably the highest achievement we have ever made.
Wake up everyone and be proud and stunned.
If this kind of work wasn’t allowed then we may as well all give up and die of apathy.

To those who are scared…
Guys, I agree with the fact that this is scary. But keep in mind that we all take risks each and every day. OK, it also does not mean that we should go looking for it. Every new idea or invention was “Stupid” and dangerous in the beginning, but here we are. Everything – Science, is Stupid, but look at what we’ve gained… and YES… also lost (Warfare). We are still learning new things everyday and always will until the end of time. Girls – How awesome is that Shampoo and Conditioner??? ( Some Rat probably died so your hair could look great?) But here we are years later and we no longer need to Torture Animals to test products. Science has grown and still will for eternity.
On a final note – I’m sure that all the MAD scientists did their Home Work first.
If there is a mistake, we probably won’t even feel it.
Yes it is scary, but it is still fascinating.

Everybody here that said the LHC is gonna end the world should just go off themselves now, take out your entire family while your at it, people as stupid as you shouldn’t be allowed to live or breed. It’s an experiment, it’s not gonna end the world. It’s actually a very interesting experiment if you know anything about particle physics. The worst that’s going to happen is that the particles colliding will actually replicate a smaller version of the big bang, and create matter. Which is a good thing. Seriously, read a book and research something before you start saying it’s going to be the end of the world.
