Apple iTunes 8, HD TV shows and Genius at Let’s Rock
By: Daniel Chubb | September 9, 2008 | Leave a CommentIts a big day today for Apple and their event at Let’s Rock, we are hearing about Apple iTunes 8 that’s been announced today and also HD TV shows and a new product/service called Genius.
With Steve Jobs on stage he said “So we’re adding new content to. You can buy them for $1.99 in SD, HD will be $2.99… and you can watch them on your computer.”
Jobs also said “NBC is coming back to iTunes, The Office is coming back, Monk, Battlestar Galactica, 30 Rock… and they’re coming back in HD. We’ve got over 65 million customers. It’s enabled us to become the #1 music distributor in any format,” and “ We’re introducing a new feature called ‘Genius’ — it allows you to make playlists from songs in your library that go together. It helps you rediscover music in your library. And it really works well”.
Genius sends information about your library to iTunes and learns about your musical tastes anonymously, that information will be combined with other users, and as that happens Genius gets smarter and smarter. You can bring up the Genius sidebar which makes recommendations from the iTunes store.
Genius is available today as a free download.
