iPhone sales set to reach 10 million Apple target this year
September 4, 2008 | Filed under News, iPhone News

We all love an iPhone, if we haven’t got one then we can’t resist the temptation of having a touch and feel of a friends. Ok, I can’t talk for everyone I guess there are some people out there that just don’t like them. But, about 8 million people so far would disagree with you.
Stats from a joint project between Investor Village’s AAPL Sanity board and AFB give us a clear indication that around 8 million iPhones have been sold this year. Steve Jobs, the big wig at Apple had said that he was hoping to achieve sales of 10 million iPhones within 2008, and it look pretty much like he is going to achieve Apple’s goal and some.
The research has been found by collecting the IMEI number of all iPhone 3G they could and recording the them on a spreadsheet, by tracking the IMEIs sequence of numbers they can conclude that Apple made at least 5,649,000 iPhone 3G according to the project.
2.4 million of the original iPhones were sold in the first half of 2008, so it all adds up to around 8 million so far this year.
