Football Manager 2009: Not on Xbox 360 due to joypad

You would never think a game could be too complex for the Xbox 360 but work fine on the Sony PSP, but there is one.

Today we hear that Sports Interactive game developers have said that Microsoft’s next-generation games console will not be getting the latest FM 2009 because of “troubles encountered transferring the complex PC interface to the system’s joypad”.

On November 14, Football Manager 2009 will become available on the Sony PSP, Apple Mac and PC. This was confirmed at a London press event last night. This is strange considering games like Take Two’s Civilization: Revolution does just fine on the 360.

The fact that FM 2009 won’t be released on the XBOX 360 is a massive disapointment, I have been solidly stuck into FM 2006 for the last 3 years and when I heard about the new watchable games and updated gaming options I was set on buying it!

I guess I’ll have to make do with PES or FIFA, think Sports Interactive have really dropped the ball on this one and hope future versions are brought out on more formats!

How the hell can it not work? How many have been on there already? 3 so why the sudden change? looks to me like they just cant be bothered!

bloody hell, this is a HUUUUGE disappointment. I have this for the PC but was very keen on purchasing it for the 360 also.

What could be too hard about configuring the joypad? all you use is a damn mouse/keyboard for the pc………………very disappointed.

i think this is disgarceful if they are having difficultys they should just get rid of 3d for the 360 or make other arrangements because the last couple of 360 footy managers seemed to work just fine and to be honest they were never as good as the pc version but they did the job and that was good enough

Did anybody actually (attempt to) play the 2008 version on the 360. It was an absolute mess.

RTS games and Footie Management games are best reserved for the PC, I’m pleased they didn’t just port a broken and impossible to control piss poor version of a game onto a format that couldn’t handle it.

And if you think the PC game has simply been ported to the PSP then frankly I laugh at you, can you not think that 2 versions have been developed by teams dedicated to making games for the PC and PSP

shame. Been an SI/Champman/Fooballman fan for years, like the idea of having this years on console as the 360 is far faster than my laptop…

i understand though- what is really needed is a keyboard/mouse option for the 360, similar to that on other past consoles. fm2008 demo for xbox did show me a great deal of clumpiness in the control, ut i thoug ht they should have used a similar setup to that with cm02-03, etc. on the original xbox, using a mouse like curser with the joystick and using the d-pad for quick tab-to-tab navigation… why they went for just tab-to-tab i don’t understand… the new interface looks crap too!
