We all knew that the decision of the U.S. district court judge of the copyright infringement case involving Veoh was unprecedented. As a result it is also a favorable outcome for Goggle and Youtube, as well as all over user-generated sites.
The result still does not mean that Google will win out in this $1 billion copyright suit, which has been filed against Viacom, the parent company of MTV and Paramount Pictures.
According to Mark Litvack, a well-known copyright attorney, there are many differences between Veoh and YouTube. The case centers around 10 videos were posted on Veoh between June 1, 2006, and June 22, 2006, these videos did not have authorization to appear on the website.
As a result the Io Group filed the lawsuit back on June 23, 2006; they said that Veoh had not done enough to protect its copyright.
