BlackBerry Thunder 9530 changed to Storm

Buzz This

There are rumors that the Blackberry Thunder or 9530 might be getting a different name, the touchscreen handset might be called Storm. The phone will also be exclusive to Verizon when it launches later this year.

Blackberry hope that the Storm which it will be called in the U.S. will be able to spoil Apple iPhone’s party. The handset does have the added advantage over the iPhone; it comes wit a removable 8GB SanDisk microSD card.

It is reported that when the new Blackberry 9530 is launched in the UK with Vodafone, it will keep the name Thunder. Rogers in Canada will also stick with this name.

You have to wonder why it is just the U.S. who is changing the name to Storm. It seems as if they want to be different to the rest of the world. There were rumors that the phone was to launch on October 13, but it could be much sooner.

Perhaps, the Hurricane-force winds of the ThunderStorm RIM OS based UI will be downgraded, when it hits our shores… well… to flatulence.
    cheers!
