Sony E Series NWZ-E435, E436 and E438 MP3 Players

Back in the 80’s and 90’s Sony were king when it came to portable music players with their Walkman range. However times have now changed and we know that there is a new king on the block from Apple.

As we know Apple has the iPod and Sony know that they just can’t touch that media player, but they hope with the launch of their E Series MP3 Players that they could compete with the Nano.

There is to be three models in the new E Series range, these include the NWZ-E435 (2GB), NWZ-E436 (4GB) and NWZ-E438 (8GB). The new mid-range MP3 players from Sony are aimed at the girly market.

The E Series comes with a 2in QVGA LCD screen and is able to play a range of files, such as MP3, WMA and AAC.

The players are just 8.5mm thick and weigh about 50g. If this was not enough to make you go out and purchase one, then Sony has another trick up their sleeve. There are rumors that the new Sony E Series MP3 Player will come with an FM tuner as well as simple drag and drop file transfers.

Will this be enough to win old Sony customers back?

    Sony has beaten Apple, Apples with there charge for everything ways, and peice of crap products that can’t be dealt with through retailers. I will by a sony over a Ishit any day. Way to go sony.

    I just bought this. I got it from Sony Style (the actual store). It’s only a 2BG but it’s enough space for me. also, it’s a radio FM tuner and a video player. What more could you want??? OK…maybe more space but I only paied 49.99 for it!! Can’t beat that.

    Mine’s silver and is a no frills to the point mp3 player with video and radio tuner. Perfect for the gym.

    I recently bought it and I am quite happy with it, specially with its radio clarity. Its 4GB and is enough for me

    Got the E438, refurbished from Geeks.com as a gift. Liked the looks, and specs. Problems playing AAC format, froze the player and had to reset each time it happened. Took all formats but MP3 and worked fine for 5 months, then it died. Got warranty online and they will refund amount paid, not worth fixing. I see Sony is selling refurbished also. Would not chance it. Disappointing. Not sure what the original problem was that caused the refurbishing in the first place, but I can guess.

    I just picked up the 8gb E Series. I am impressed so far. My major gripe about IPod is the way it indexes your files. I need a folder view. In windows media and in the E Series a folder view exists so people like me can get to my music.
