Customers who purchased the new iPhone 3G have not been happy with Apple, as they have had a number of problems with their new handsets. Many iPhone 3G owners were complaining about dropped calls as well as a number of other problems.
Apple is hoping that their new Firmware Update 2.0.2 will quickly help to fix these problems. The update has been made available for Appleās iPhone as well as the iPod Touch.
Firmware Update 2.0.2 is a 248.7MB download; this comes just two weeks after update 2.0.1.
As normal Apple have not come out in the open and explained what the cause of the trouble is, we do wish that they would be more open with us. All Apple have said of Firmware Update 2.0.2 is that it handles bug fixes.
According to Apple Insider, their fans have said that the new update has included faster browsing, altered transition from music list to Coverflow, typing lag reduction as well as Apps not requiring updates.
Have you managed to download Firmware Update 2.0.2 for your iPhone 3G, if so have you noticed any improvements?

i updated my first generation iphone firmware to 2.02 in hope that it solves my occassional freezing problem. Mind you, my phone froze when flight attendant call to turn off my iphone, but it failed to respond no matter what I did.. There was no battery to removed and I was on the verge of breaking the phone so that I didn’t have to get off the already delayed plane (APPLE told me that had I break my iphone, I would have voided my warranty). After what seem to be the longest two minutes, it restarted and I was able to shut down the stupid thing. I love my iphone, but ever since the 3G phone came out and with all the software upgrades they pushed through, my phone hasn’t been the same.
Today, I upgraded the firmware and waha! I can no longer get gmail. The screen is different and I could not get any help from GOOGLE since this is too new.
I love the guys at the GENIUS bar.. They are very helpful and did not hesitate to replace my phone when i had a problem that is beyond help. I like the service they provide, but at this point I don’t know if it’s AT&T or APPLE that is at fault since I can’t get a consistent and reliable service. Business people will not want to have this kind of problems with their phone. At least keep the email, phone, and messaging function separate from all other functions. Upgrading firmware should not have adversely affect other features or important functions.
I still like iphone, but I need the APPLE folks to get their act together. Maybe, they need to get everyone on 3G so they only have one phone type to deal with. Now they have to do upgrades that works on both iphones and that’s where the bugs come in (I am guessing this part). Please do not write to my email address.. I am not ready to have a global chat using my email.
ok.. I removed the email connection from my phone and shut it down.. Restarted it and reestablished my emails.. that seem to fix the problem.. Horrahhhh!!.
I do like the iphone for the fact that upgrades and changes can be done by software. I feel like I have a new phone each time some changes is made to the firmware. It’s one computer that can be upgraded easily and backed by a big company like APPLE, I feel more confident.. If it was LINUX or anyone else, I would be more hesitant..
I loaded update 2.02 soon as it was available. First couple of days I didn’t notice any changes. But now I notice better 3g reception and way better call quality. Still room for improvement tho! And still problems with visual voice mail hooking up to blue tooth headset! Writin Tues Aug. 26 08
I had a problem with my 3G. I thought it might be my update to 2.2.1 my phone would go off by itself- it was very inconvenient.
However I recently discovered why. I had bought a rather neat leather flip cover case for the phone. When you flipped it open a magnet held it in position.
THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. The magnet effecting the phone and turning it off.
Solution, do not buy a cover with a magnet in it.
