This product is Sony’s first ZEGO-branded hybrid multi-core processing platform for HD video production.
Sony’s Cell Broadband Engine is well known to many gamers, it’s the very engine that gives the Playstation 3 its massive power. Both the RSX graphics technology and Cell processor are inside the ZEGO BCU-100.
The BCU-100 will be able to process certain types of applications very fast; this includes computer graphics and high-resolution visual effects.
The BCU-100 will hit the U.S. market late in 2008 and thanks to its 1U size it can be mounted in a 19-inch rack. Sony is currently talking to software development companies about the possibilities of BCU-100.
