Say goodbye to the PSP’s extended life battery kit

One of the best selling PSP accessories, the extended life battery kit is to be discontinued says SCEA.

This product was seen to be an essential for most PSP fans out there as the extended battery life kit basically doubled the systems battery life on PSP- 2000 systems. Although there were some slight problems with the new, larger battery creating a bulge in the system with its cover on, this wasn’t too big a deal with users as the battery would run for an impressive 12 hours compared to the old one.

A statement from SCEA’s Al de Leon confirmed, “Yes, we are discontinuing this product as we look for other opportunities to service the consumer.”

Hopefully this announcement will make Sony take note of fans disappointment of this, and come up with something better in the future. Sony has continued to say the PSP remains a part of their plans for the future following the success of the PS3.

As a PSP owner myself currently engrossed in the world of FF7 Crisis Core, let’s hope Sony sticks to their words and doesn’t forget about their handheld system.
