Many web users hate being spied on and this has been shown over and over again when their privacy is possibly made public (YouTube having to show its log files to a court is one example, we’re sure you can think of many more).
So when you think about your nice new Apple iPhone 3G and the possibility that it may be phoning home every now and then, how does that make you feel?
The site iPhone Atlas has broke some news about the iPhone’s 2.xx firmware being able to check for unauthorized applications, and disable them after phoning home to Apple.
Its being reported that a configuration file tucked deep inside CoreLocation shows this to be true. You can read more details on iPhone Atlas and in iPhone Forensics manual by Jonathan Zdziarski.
Now is Apple doing this for our security or other reasons?
