There was a rumor that the Xbox 360 Arcade was to have a price drop to just $199, on September 7. It looks as though there is some truth in the rumor, just look at the picture.
Microsoft has wanted to cut the Xbox 360 Arcade to $199.99 for a while now, as they feel that this price is a sweet spot with consumers. Back in February the Xbox 360 was reduced to 199 Euros, this allowed Xbox 360 consoles to gather pace, it is hoped that the price cut for the Arcade will have the same effect.
This could be a tall order for Microsoft though, as they are facing an onslaught from the likes of the Nintendo Wii and the Sony PlayStation 3. However this will make the Xbox 360 Arcade the lowest priced Next-Gen console on the market.
The timing of the price drop is perfect for Microsoft, as it is just one week before the release of Square Enix’s ‘Infinite Undiscovery’ and two weeks before Harmonix/EA’s ‘Rock Band 2′. Both these titles are exclusive to the Xbox 360.
The September 7 price drop to just $199.99 will be a very important one for as the Xbox 360 Arcade could have great sales for the holiday season
