Rage Xbox 360 Imperfections: Sony PS3 fine thanks to Blu-ray

It has been reported that ‘Rage’, the upcoming shooter from Id, will look worse on the Xbox 360 than the Sony PS3 due to the limited space on the DVD’s that the 360 uses, compared to the Blu-Ray format that the PS3 uses.
John Carmack, who is the programmer for the game has said this is solely due to ‘memory limitations’ and as a result of this, the game will be compressed onto two Xbox 360 discs. The PS3 version of the game however will not suffer from this problem as the Blu-Ray format it uses has five-times the storage of DVD, which Carmackhas said will result in the game will looking smoother on Sony’s console.
When asked about how this issue will affect gameplay on the 360, Carmack explained, “hero shots” should look similar, but that Xbox 360 players might find a rock that is more blurry when exploring the periphery of Rage’s world.
Rage is due to be released on Xbox 360, PS3, Mac and PC in 2009. Stay tuned for more information as we get it.
