X-OOM Music Clean 5: Transfer Old Music to CD and iPod
By: Daniel Chubb | July 30, 2008 | 2 Comments
The software features a high quality digital equaliser for removing unwanted noises such as crackling, clicking and hissing, leaving music to be enjoyed in excellent quality. Favourite old vinyl and cassette tapes kept in the attic can be restored and then backed up onto a PC, ready to be transferred to a CD or MP3 player. Even the oldest tunes can be brought back to life and listened to in high quality once again.
Updating an old music collection to a digital playlist allows songs to be listened to on modern music hi-fi systems and on the move with MP3 players, eliminating the need for record and cassette players. Backing up the music to a digital format also means it will not degenerate as quickly, keeping songs in good condition in a safe place.
X-OOM Music Clean 5 features user-friendly wizards to guide beginners through the process of restoring their music. After the software is installed on the PC, the soundcard socket is connected to the cassette / record player’s line out socket, using a mini jack / RCA connector cable, or the provided CINCH connecter. Once the PC and music device are linked, the music transfer can begin. Songs can then be restored to high quality using slider bars on the interface to reduce the amount of noise, crackling and clicks.
New features include:
- FreeDB support – download artist and track names from the internet to simplify searching for and categorising music
- Batch Processing Wizard – save time by importing and converting multiple files
- Special effects – add effects to music, such as guitar distortion or amplifier fuzz to create and experiment with new sounds
- A CINCH connector to link a PC sound card to a 3.5 mm stereo jack plug
X-OOM Music Clean 5 will ocst £24.99 and is available from X-OOM.com and Amazon.co.uk.
