Samsung Tocco vs Apple iPhone 3G: Price, features & performance

i hae had my tocco for 2 weeks now and during that time have managed to have 1 phone conversation in full as the pther conversations have been cut short due to the phone dropping calls , have swapped the phone for another one cos thught it might have been dodgy piece but this one just as bad , does anyone know of software download to rectify this ? if not my tocco going back to cpw .

They wont take it back

I have kicked some butt at the cpw and they have given me 20 quid cheque for my petrol costs back and to. they have now told me to go to a different store to see an engineeer apparently if this dosent work i can swap the phone. we will wait and see

I have had 4 Toccos each has had the problem of dropping calls.
Great phone but not practical as I just cant trust it to have a conversation on.
The 4th Tocco is going back and I am awaiting the release of the Nokia E66.

if your tocco is dropping calls, then you probably have a low signal coverage for umts(3g) in your area. switch your device to gsm to get full signal. you can switch back to umts where the signal coverage is good.

It’s a known problem – needs a firmware update

I have the iphone 3g, best gadget that has ever been invented, a must buy. The samusung tocco to be compared with the iphone is a joke!

ive just got a samsung tocco and the phone is really good, but as people are saying about the signal i dont thing that is good at all but all u got to do is switch to gsm and switch back after like the guy has wrote above.

samsung tocco is a far bette phone. the i phone is much too big unless you hve hands the size of a tree. sure the i phone may have wifi but the toccos internet is accessable wherever you are. the i phone’s camera is pathetic and might as well not be there. the toccos music isnt far off the standard of the i phone but the toccos sound quality blows the iphones away. next we have the point that the i phone is the only phone that apple make- no experience and everyone wants it. the i phone is too common and many people have them. another problem is that it looks almost identical to the touch which is far from impressive. overall the tocco is a much better phone. the iphone focuses too deeply on certain features and is much too common.yes there are phones better then the tocco but for the money you pay for an iphone you could have something much much better. i had one and took it back a week later after i saw about 20 people in my local area with them. buying the i phone is a patetic idea. the tocco is a small phone with a great camera, music player and also has 3G. for me there is no contest and having owned both phones, the tocco is easily the better phone

i like to send my friends stuff,every one likes the games most people have xbox wii ps3 now anyway , I dont like to carry a brick sized phone around , i like a 5mp camera for good moments , i like to Record Videos , Tocco Wins all the time people , !! iphone serial killer !! iphone owners… take it toccos win

Why is it that all phone reviews sound like they’ve been written by a dyslexic 3 year old? I’ve got a Tocco and pretty much hate it. The reason I got it was I wanted a touch screen phone, I wanted it to be small enough to fit in my pocket (something the Iphone just doesn’t do comfortably) and I wanted it to have a decent camera as I take quite a lot of opportunistic photos. The Tocco scores on all 3 counts but has some pretty fatal flaws. Firstly the menu system sucks a big one. Scrolling through the contact list each entry unfolds to twice its size to show details whcih means that the unfolded part covers what’s coming up next. This means that scrolling through a list to get to a particular item involves a large amount of luck. Next the screen has a number of scratches on it already although it’s not been mistreated – I would have thought it would have been a little tougher. Next Audio quality on calls is absolutely dreadful – nothing to do with signal strength – and a lot of the time I really do struggle to hear what people are saying. You can turn the volume up to compensate for this but the volume has to be almost at a painful level for this to work. Next the onscreen keyboard has the language button next to the MNO key which means writing anytyhing results in you changing the language to Italian before you know it. I’ve only got small fingers so those with big hands would really suffer and believe me this is very infuriating. And lastly got a voicemail while you’re out in the pub, shops, park just about anywhere really? Want to listen to it? No chance: you call voice mail and immediately you will need to press a key to access your mail. Unfortunately your screen is locked whilst you are in a call so you have to take the phone away from your ear, unlock the screen and then press the appropriate key. Then you have to lock the screen again before putting it back to your ear otherwise your ear is working away at the touchscreen. You can of course turn the speaker on so you can hold the phone away from your ear but then everyone can hear your phone. This may be something unique to touchscreens in general but the Tocco does nothing to assist you in your futile attempts at navigating any kind of telephone menu system and frequently makes me want to throw it on the floor and jump up and down on it. The one ok thing about it is the camera. Pictures are as usual on Phones pretty awful in low light but daylight pictures are not bad at all. I’ll be looking (through rose tinted glasses) at this purchase (which I have for the next 18 months) as a camera that happens to be able to take some phone calls and make some texts. If I could get out of the contract I would and under no circumstances would I get a Tocco ever again. It’s a stupid phone but at least it’s not as big as a house.

samsung tocco is a good phone.im getting a pink one and ive heard that the samsung tocco is just as fun as the iphone.iphones are rubbish aparentley and they break down on you loads.This phone what im getting is way better than my friends.

it doesnt drop calls and when i went away to the country out of all 60 people that was there my phone was the only one with a signal. buy the samsung, my friend has a iphone and it is bad, it it easily scratched and she had to get it fixed because it was in her bag and she put it on the ground and it didnt work anymore.
