Xbox 360 prototype worker switches to Sony PS3

We all know that the Xbox 360 hardware has had more problems than the Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3 combined, RROD has become a joke and also public debate of why it happened.
The Xbox 360 does a lot right on the software front, but many news sites have long guessed that Microsoft rushed the 360 to beat the Sony PS3 to the market.
Today we have had some information sent in from someone who goes by the name of “Chris” and claims to of worked on the original Xbox 360 prototypes back in 2004.
They say that Microsoft’s biggest mistake was launching the 360 a year earlier than the PS3 and it’s this reason why there have been so many hardware issues.
The thing that jumps out at me, as I’ve noticed since launch, is that the PS3 costs much more than $400, $500, even $600 to produce, yet Sony still sells the console for less, and it’s all for the consumer.
I actually worked with Microsoft on the original Xbox 360 prototypes back in 2004, and, despite the accumulated cost of the hardware, Microsoft increased the price of retail sale above the production cost.
By the 360’s launch, I was a bit ashamed to see that the Xbox 360 was so expensive even though it was cheap to produce, and that’s when several other Microsoft devs in my group and I were surprised to see that the PS3 launched at only $600.
As a developer, I was really curious about each console’s hardware, and if we had put the Playstation 3’s hardware in our original Xbox 360 prototype, it would have cost well over $700.
The Playstation 3 consists of well over $750, but I’m amazed that Sony can sell the console for $400. In my opinion, that was a very smart move on Sony’s behalf.
Due to work terms, I’ve been prohibited from saying this until early 2008, but Microsoft severely rushed development of the 360, and we had a very short time window to work with in order to launch the 360 a year earlier. That was our, and Microsoft’s, biggest mistake.
As a result, the Xbox 360 has major hardware issues. I switched over to the PS3 when my Xbox 360, the console that I helped develop, RROD’d for the 4th time.

I think you need a Ps3 so you can feel better. …. MEtal Gear, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Tekken 6, Littlebig planet, Warhawk, Fatal Inertia, Wipeout,Vampire Rain, GOD OF WAR 3, Gran Turismo.. Am I missing somethin, HAHA. To bad not even nintendo will have any of those games . Only PS3 owners. Will be playing those while you guys play Childish HALO, OHHH MANN. HALO watch out. Bungie is now working multi platform. There goes your only big gun.
Had no idea this was such a Sony fnaboy site. Wow, impressive. The only reason Sony sold anything was due to the BR player and MGS4. After that? No real reason to buy one. I bought for the player in hopes that a game would come out worth a crap. MGS4 is good, but come on. Put a freaking game out. Until then, COD4 is better on the 360, GOW, H3, Mass Effect, are 4 reasons not to buy a Ps3. Do not tell me Resistance, or Killzone rivals any Halo game, or GOW . in any capacity. Sonys SW attach rate is abismal. I have Drakes and thats ok, but come the f on. Now with GOW2 and the new Halo games? Only game I cant play on a 360 is MGS lol. Add I can download instantaneously a NetFlix movie? Last nail in the coffin. So sony step up and put a GOW/Halo type of game out, otherwise, you are just a pretty BR player. No fanboy here, I just go where the games are.

Metal Gear is that type of game buddy and Killzone is the same type of game like halo and GOW, and there gonna be wayyy better. Of course they are BLU RAY DUhhhh

I want LittleBigPlanet badly (not out yet). I’m interested in Wipeout (not out yet). Marginally interested in Killzone 2 (not out yet). Noticing a trend here? I have interest in any of the other games on your list.
By the way, Fatal Inertia’s also out on 360 (complete shit).

Only little kids pledge undying loyalty to brand names as if they were freakin’ sports teams. As an adult, I don’t give a shit who makes the console I buy. I bought a 360 because (1) it came out first, (2) it has games I wanted to play. I haven’t bought a PS3 because it has no exclusives I’m interested in. I’ll probably get one when LittleBigPlanet comes out.

Um, I’m a grown up (unlike yourself). I have a job, I can buy any console I want. There’s nothing to get jealous about. I WILL own a PS3, when it has games I want. It’s that simple. In the meantime, I’ve been playing Halo, Gears of War, Bioshock, and others, while you have played.. what? Resistance?! *lol*

Um, you already post that list, bonehead. Did you forget? Again, the only games on that list that I’m interested in are NOT OUT YET. Is that hard to understand? Do you have reading comprehension issues? Low IQ? What’s the problem?

You listed 10 games. Two of them are FPS. That’s 20%. I suggest you grab a dictionary and look up the word “most”. You clearly don’t know what it means.

What is also funny about the numbers is that a BIG portion of the money went into advertising for VISTA.
Had it not been for the $1.1 billion loss due to the red ring of death and who knows how many hundreds of millions of dollars in advertising for Vista the division would have posted at least a $1.8 Billion in profit for the year!

This old nutshell eh. Hmm, well the Xbox360 suffers from the same flaw the PS2 did, and that’s called being designed poorly. Now whether this guy actually did or didn’t work for M$ is irrelevant. It is a poorly designed console. Ask anyone with some hardware knowledge, I build PC’s, and I’m telling you, there is too much heat and not enough fans to get that heat out.
Call me any sort of fanboy you want, but I own 2 Xbox360’s, a PS3, a Wii, and a PC worth £2k. My Xbox has RROD’d twice, and I hear as many reports in work (I work in a game store) about X360’s RROD’ing as PS2 laser’s dying. It’s about cutting corners and greed. Most companies are capable of it, you guys bitching about it, isn’t gonna matter two cents to them.
Simple matter of the fact is, the Xbox has more games out, the PS3 is, and I repeat, IS the most powerful console, but it doesn’t have the installed base or the attach rate the X360 does currently. Sony are playing the long-term game and in the long run, I think it’s gonna be a pretty close-run thing. The Wii is selling more then both consoles combined, but I’ve not played mine in months lol.
Btw guys, saying your console is better then some other guys console doesn’t make it so. This debate goes back to Nintendo & Sega over who had the better - Mega Drive or Super Nintendo. I picked Nintendo then, I’ll pick Nintendo now. As for hard-core, I’ll have to go with PS3.
