Microsoft’s disappointing Xbox 360 hardware results

In last months North American sales figures that were released by NPD, we see that Microsoft’s Xbox 360 had some really disappointing hardware results.
We could take the view that the current credit crunch could be to blame, but looking at the Nintendo Wii and Sony PS3 software and hardware sales, this is certainly not the case at this time.
June was the first time in 2008 that the Xbox 360 came last out of all the games consoles and its also the first time in over 12 months that the 360 didn’t have a game in one of the top two positions.
What does this mean for the Xbox 360 and what can Microsoft do to improve things in the months to come?
It seems that this has been a trend for the Xbox 360 over the last few months and the leaked news of a price drop will not really affect new buyers. The reason I say this is because the people that track the Xbox 360 gaming news closely, would most probably already have the console.
It will be interesting to see how the Xbox 360 software and hardware sales continue over the rest of 2008, how will they look compared to the Nintendo Wii and Sony PS3 come Christmas?

Hey isnt this a complete ripoff of an article i read in gamasutra
GAMASUTRA
its either that or both guys came to the exact same conclusion
But judging by the fact that this is the third article ive read in this site that blasts the author for his(?) lack of credibility i say ripoff.
Good work moving eyeballs to the site
It’s not that hard to work out is it? PS3 sales spiked because of MGS4 and 360 sales slumped because of the upcoming price drop and every time this happens i have to explain it to people like you who can’t work it out for themselves, MSG4 was the most anticipated exclusive on the PS3 and who’d buy a 360 when they know it’s going to be $50 cheaper in a few weeks?
If Gear of War 2 came out the same month PS3 announced an upcoming price drop and didn’t have a big title out i’d expect the sales to be the other way round, it’s not rocket science!
You really have no idea what you’re talking about, do you? I respect your right to write, but you have no understanding of retail trends, nor do you understand the drivers of said trends. In fact, I click your links on my feed just to see how anti-Microsoft you can be each time.
