iPhone 3G ordered and Carphone Warehouse lose it

iPhone 3G ordered and lost
What would you do if you ordered your iPhone 3G and new you were lucky enough to get one of the last 1000 iPhones in the country and then after it did not arrive, you ring up to find out they have none left.

This is just what happened to one iPhone 3G buyer, they bought theirs from Carphone Warehouse in the UK and after finding out it has gone missing or been sold to someone else, they see iPhone 3G’s being sold to others at an Apple store.

Have a read below of their comment that was left on Product Reviews and then let us know what experience you have had with the iPhone 3G, this is one of many stories we have heard about iPhone 3g order problems at Carphone Warehouse and other stores.

I ordered “one of the last 1000 iPhones remaining in the country” over a week ago from my local Carphone Warehouse, being told before I left the shop that I definitely had one and it would be delivered on Wednesday or Friday of last week.

Not only was it still not delivered today, but to make matters worse I was Informed that Carphone Warehouse have NO IPHONES left at their central distribution centre.

No attempt to explain how my iPhone vanished and no idea when it might be delivered. Yet I saw people walking into an Apple Store at the weekend and walking out with iPhones!

Did you get your iPhone 3G and if not, will you be buying one?

Well that is quite bad for you but as often strange things happen when you absolutely want to get a certain thing. iPhones are currently sold for very high prices and i read about unlocked ones that were available not under 1000USD. The question is: Do you really NEED an iPhone or is it just a question of fashion, of being “hip”? I don’t have one and am quite satsified with my Nokia E51 and E61i.

I ordeded mine at 1:30 am on 11th July online. Due to my address not being recognised (new build!) an iphone was assigned to me and i was emailed to sort the problem out. I called back and sorted it out. I waited til tuesdayy and it had still not arrived. On calling carphone warehouse i was told “we had sold out before we even opened, however we was unaware due to our systems being so slow” I was told a new batch was due to arrive wednesday. On thursday my phone arrived, but my sim card not activated. On friday i phoned carphone warehouse, who blamed 02 and passed me on to them. 02 investigated and called me back blaming carphone and told me to ring them. Carphone then told me they would activate in in the next 24-48 hours. Sunday evening i call carphone warehouse and am told carphone and 02 are having issues and a manger is preparing a list of customers with problems and will be talking directly to 02 to get them all connected. i have to wait another 24-48 hours. Well i wont hold my breath!

Exactly the same thing happened to me - I was constantly fobbed off with statements that “your order is in picking” and “it is waiting to be sent out and will be with you tomorrow”. Essentially, the sold me something they didn’t have and we trying to hold onto my order for as long as humanly possible. Cancelled my order yesterday. Recommend the trip to an Apple store as they always have stock.

    Not impressed.

Apple are the only suppliers of the iphone in the country, O2 have to buy alltheir stock through Apple and Carphone Warehouse have to buy all their stock through O2.

So you can imagine why Apple always have lots of stock.
