Pwnage jailbreaks iPhone 3G

The new version of Pwnage has just been released and it jailbreak’s iPhone 3G 2.0 software but does not unlock yet, although it will unlock older iPhones.

This new version of iPhone-dev team’s jailbreaking and unlocking software will jailbreak the iPhone 3G, but it has limitations, this is what was said in their blog post

Yes, it jailbreaks and unlocks older iPhones, and jailbreaks iPhone 3Gs and iPod Touches. We only support the 2.0 firmware’s

If unlocking the iPhone 3G is what you want then you may have to wait a little longer but this software is a step in the right direction for some, you should also read the statement below about an Error you may get

If you get Error 1600 from iTunes (or if you see in your log a failure to prepare x12220000_4_Recovery.ipsw), try: mkdir “~/Library/iTunes/Device Support”; if that directory already exists, remove any files in it. Then re-run Pwnage Tool

We have heard from users that have tried Pwnage 2.0 on their iPhone 3Gs and original iPhones that run iPhone OS 2.0, it seems that most people are not having any problems, other than the above.
