June NPD Results: Sony PS3’s Metal Gear Solid 4 Top

MGS4 June NPD
What does it take to top the NPD sales figures chart for games software sold in June, well it looks like Metal Gear Solid 4 did the trick for the Sony PS3.

Its said that over 1600 companies rely on the research that NPD carries out, so you have to take the results they show as a pretty creditable source.

In the past multiplatform games have topped the NPD charts but this time Metal Gear Solid has such a large following that the PS3 exclusive MGS4 not only helped sell Playstation 3 systems but also became the no.1 sold game in June.

The NPD research also showed how the games industry is growing even in the middle of a credit crunch, this June’s software sales was up 61% compared to the same period last year.

Did you help MGS4 get to the top spot and if so what do you think of the game so far?

In fifth place was Nintendo Wii’s Play with Remote (359.100), fourth place went to Wii Fit that comes with a Balance Board (372.700), third was taken by Ninja Gaiden II for the Xbox 360 (372.700), second was Guitar Hero On Tour for the Nintendo DS (422.300) and of course first was PS3’s Metal Gear Solid 4 with a massive 774.600 units sold.
