E3 2008: $100 price cut for 80GB PlayStation 3

This action by Sony has to be in direct response to the Xbox 360’s recent price cut announcement for 20GB 360’s, with the Sony PS3 coming down another $100 it seems incredible how much your getting for your price.
September will see the line-up aimed at just one $399 80-gigabyte PlayStation 3 model, this makes for a cheap Blu-ray player, media centre and next-generation games console.
At E3 2008 Sony laid out its plans for the next year and beyond, they know that Europe has taken the PS3 with open arms but in the United States it’s a different story. In the US, the PS3 is trailing the Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360.
This new cheaper Playstation 3 will be bad news for gamers that love playing PS2 games; it’s said to not support backward compatibility. This is not a problem for me as I mostly play the latest games with good graphics and gameplay, but those that have a large collection of Playstation 2 games may want this option.
CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America, Jack Tretton showed everyone at E3 2008 the new video download service that’s due this year, it will allow the PS3 user to watch TV shows, high-definition or standard movies that you can rent or buy.
