Carphone Warehouse not upgrading O2 iPhone owners to 3G

After the news released on O2’s website the other day we were all led to believe it will be no problem upgrading to iPhone 3G in an O2 store and even at Carphone Warehouse.

Today we have confirmation that this is not the case, a friend has just confirmed to Product Reviews that they went to their local Carphone Warehouse store just moments and had bad news.

When asking if they have iPhone 3G’s in stock, they were told they have 8 in stock and when he explained that he had a contract with O2 like everyone but also bought the first iPhone from an O2 store, he was told he cannot upgrade at Carphone Warehouse.

So in case anyone is a little confused, it looks like if you bought your first generation iPhone from Carphone Warehouse you can upgrade at both CW and O2, this was confirmed to us by customer services of both these stores.

If you bought your iPhone from O2, then according to this recent news and the staff at this CW, you can only upgrade at an O2 store.

Can anyone else confirm this has happened to him or her?
