Sony PS3 Update 2.41: New firmware to overcome problems

Just last week Sony released firmware update 2.40, but just a day after Sony had to withdraw the update following some problems. However PS3 Update 2.41 is now availble, which Sony say will overcome all the problems from 2.40.
The short lived 2.40 firmware update was meant to allow in-game use of the XMB, along with support for trophies, which was going to be PlayStation 3’s answer to Xbox 360 achievements.
2.40 had to be withdrawn as there were major configuration problems with the update, Sony are still not clear where the problem came from, however they do say that 2.41 will overcome all those problems.
Many people will now be wondering if they should update to 2.41, many gamers might be playing chicken with others, just to see if they get the same troubles as the previous update gave them.

everything works fine 2.41 all tyhe sceptics about donloading it, it is clear not configuration problems in the firmware software this time
XMB works fine but have been having problems with all online games as have all of my frieds who have also downloaded the up date Bad company wont let us join games, Vagas lags like mad and has a few majour glitches like taping R1 to fire after reloading and the guns reloads again and grenades not beeing thrown or blowing up emtying mags into people and AI bots and they dont die and players randomly dieing on terorist hunt with no shots beeing fired COD wont let us join games or when it does it keeps frezing, GTA wont let us join or frezzes for 30 seconds then works again for 5 and does the same and lags realy bad and talking on headsets just makes a buzing sound when someone talks
the 2.40 update didn’t cause me any problems, but now that i’ve installed 2.41, my system won’t read any discs at all. it just leaves the loading icon up in the top right corner whenever i put a disc in, and nothing happens.
my ps3 won’t let me download the 2.41 update which stops me getting online to play cod4. downloadd updates for other games so it’s not a getting online problem. says a connection to the server cannot be established (80710723) anyone got any ideas????
Im having audio problems with the 2.41 version, I have a HMDI output, can anyone help me please?
after 2.41 my ps3 freeze every 5 minutes of play… i did the search and found it very comun… i decided format my hdd and restore settings, now i got the icon spinning on the corner and the ps dont read any of my games… what can i do? replacing hdd may help??
I’ll second Fish’s question about fixing the connection to server could not be established issue. This prevented me from getting 2.40 and I decided I’d wait a few weeks (as I don’t use my PS3 much) for another update or at least for Sony to fix their servers. I couldn’t tell if it was something on my end or not, but with at least a few other people reporting the same problem with connecting to the server to download the software, I’m pretty sure something is fishy.
I’m curious to know for those of you who have 2.41 if you downloaded the update to flash drive and installed it or if you downloaded it via the PS3. If you did, any clue as to why it hasn’t been working for some of us?
Or if you just know of this problem and how to fix it or what to do, I’d appreciate it.

I am also having problems with my audio. It works fine through my HDMI output but it doesn’t work with my optical output (speaker system). Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
i also down loaded the new software now my console will not turn on .the green light comes on then flashes to yellow then flashing red light i would advise every one to remove it until they get it fixed because now my will not work at all i had know problems until the 2.42 do not install
just finished speaking with a sony representative told them some problem im having . ”i asked hey do u think its cause of the latest update ,(ME knowing thats the case) she didnt even let me finish and already she was saying no.ive concluded they r having far 2 many calls regarding my same problem ,that r already automatic with da no answer,or maybe a higher ranked has order them 2 say no 2 this question.i aint no genius but even a retard would kno its a software problem
