Samsung Instinct: More flair than BlackBerry, Palm or Windows Mobile phones

Samsung Instinct More flair
Some people might be wondering why the Samsung Instinct has been so popular to the extent that its sold out in many places and while it lacks many features of the iPhone or iPhone 3G, it is still selling out. There could be a few reasons for this including the simple Sprint pricing plans that all feature unlimited Internet use, a navigation assistance, text/picture/video messaging and Sprint’s online video and music feeds.

This leaves you with one choice to make when choosing a Sprint price plan and that’s how many weekday minutes to buy. You options are $99.99 for unlimited calls, $89.99 for 900 minutes and $69.99 a month gets you 450 minutes. The other reason Sprint’s Samsung Instinct is so popular could be that the iPhone is tied in the United States to just AT&T and if your cannot receive good coverage with them at home or the office, you would look elsewhere.

When we look at the Apple iPhones features then overall they crush the Samsung Instinct, one I will highlight is the lack of being able to add software of your own on the Instinct, you then cannot make the phone anymore intelligent. The iPhone on the other hand can be expanded with many third party applications and this phone will continue to get more intelligent even without the 3G iPhone upgrade.

The Samsung Instinct can be the right phone for you when its entertainment your looking for and not productivity, we all leave in a world where we have a massive love for music and videos, this is another reason the Sprint Instinct shines. When it comes to style, you can be assured that the Sprint Instinct has more flair than a BlackBerry, Palm or Windows Mobile cell phone.

What do you want more from your cell phone, productivity or entertainment?

Yet another unprovoked, inaccurate, obviously biased comparison to the IPhone.
For example, “Apple iPhones features then overall they crush the Samsung Instinct, one I will highlight is the lack of being able to add software of your own on the Instinct, you then cannot make the phone anymore intelligent. The iPhone on the other hand can be expanded with many third party applications and this phone will continue to get more intelligent even without the 3G iPhone upgrade.”
How completely wrong is this!!! Sprint has a host of third party developers creating apps for the opensourse Java based OS. Even the number of base apps/functions on the Instinct vastly out numbers that of the base Iphone!

When will these useless Iphone comparisons stop? The Instinct is vastly different from the Iphone! There were touchscreen phones BEFORE the Iphone. So therefore, every touchscreen after the Iphone is not an “IClone”, as you pretentious tech critics put it so often.

The Instinct was a no brainer for me. No AT&T service where I live. Two batteries you can swap out youself. Seperate AC charger for phone or battery. You can charge the phone over USB and the battery at the same time using the AC adapter. I wish it had a better browser, but the list of other features and network apps work great. There are several that cooperate well with the GPS feature. Literally ask (say “Goto Movies”) for a Movie listing and it checks your location to find the nearest theaters. Pick a movie and it will give you a choice of directions via GPS mapping, the phone number to call or add to your contacts list, or length details including mini reviews. The GPS is spot-on and quick, and will provide voice prompts along your route. Say “Gas Station” in the Navigation app and it finds all within your specified search radius. I was impressed to find a previously unknown source for printer cartridges very close to my home using that feature. It then gave me walking directions.

Yes, the iPhone will have access to downloadable apps. It’s not an infinite resource though, and you need to consider that each of those apps take up system memory. I can swap out memory cards on my Instinct, and keep different media or applications on each. 8gb microSD cards are $35, and getting cheaper. I keep 7gb worth of music on one, six movies on another, and keep one for photos. I’ve added a belt clip to the free slip case that came with the Instinct.

Sprint is on the right track. I’ve got an iPod Touch (an iPhone without the phone), so I have compared interfaces side by side. The Instinct is a little slower loading up the data for apps, such as Music. For efficiency I give the edge to the Instinct. It’s quicker getting around, the haptic touch response provides useful assurance, and related apps are better associated.

Definitely the prettiest open-platform mobile phone these days. Feature-wise it suffers somewhat but that’s better than being tied to a provider with the iPhone or not getting what you expect or need with Windows Mobile

Daniel, you’re wrong. Instinct has way more features. And by the way, Sprint has a free software development kit. So look for future upgrades. Also Samsung is coming out with the Omnia. That is definitely an Iphone killer

How can I be wrong, John I was arguing for the Instinct and agreeing with you. I was quoting the article writer’s inaccurate analysis. Re-read my post…

I would never by the Omina b/c it’s a Windows Mobile phone; I’ll be with the Instinct and its future upgrades until they make holographic phones or something…

The author is absolutely incorrect (ignorant authors suck, you could have at least done a Google search!).

You can add software on Sprint Instinct and even write your own software for FREE if you wanted.

While Apple charges $100 for developer’s kit, Sprint is offering it to application developers here:

Yes, Sprint Instinct is very intuitive and friendly and packed with features. iPhone browser is better though.

What many people tend to forget is that the iPhone is an iPod. No other “phone” has iTunes or the interface to that number one music seller. Sure, you can jam the music in there sideways, but the iPod is popular for a reason, and the Instinct misses the mark widely here.
The iPhone is also a first rate internet device. It beats the Instinct here as well, by a sizeable margin.
The developer kit for the iPhone is freeeeeeee! Not $100. Granted, if you want to sell applications for the iPhone you have to pony up $100. Hundreds of thousands of developers have downloaded the Xcode developer kit for iPhone.
The Instinct is on Sprint, and for me, that’s a better network than ATT. It’s also cheaper than the iPhone.
    Otherwise…
