Sprint’s Apple iPhone rival handset the Samsung Instinct, seems to be more popular than they had expected, this has now resulted in shortages of this device. It does seem as if this handset really has hit the spot with cell phone users, well it has to be popular as you can’t even get one at the moment.
In a statement from Sprint, it read “The record pace of Instinct sales has led to temporary shortages of the device at some locations across the United States.” The statement also said Sprint and Samsung are diligently working around the clock to increase inventory in all sales channels. Samsung has increased efforts to deliver new supplies of Instinct on a daily basis, and manufacturing plants are operating at full capacity to keep up with demand.”
Ok so we know that this shortage is a bit of a setback for Sprint, but you have to look on the bright side of things, it does show that Sprint has hit gold with the new Samsung Instinct. This latest touch-screen handset is even being touted as the iPhone killer, but it would have to be something very special to do that. However; it does seem as if there could be some truth in that statement, why else would they completely sell out of this phone.
Sprint has said that, since the Instinct hit store shelves it has become the fastest-selling EVDO handset in Sprint’s history. The Samsung Instinct is up against some great touch-screen phones though; firstly there is the ever popular iPhone, which will become more popular with the release of the 3G version. There is also the HTC Touch Diamond, Palm Centro, as well as the rumored RiM BlackBerry Thunder.

This is truly interesting..
Since it’s compared to iPhone, it needs to be said aloud: hope Samsung has better names for their devices in the future than iNstinct

Iphone killer? NOT. speaking from experience, i owned the Instinct for all of 5 days and sent it packing. the internet is super slow, if it loads at all, the user interface is pretty and thats about it. this phone is like a beautiful woman with no brains. if i had a kid id give this phone to them for a play toy. i was not impressed at all with the instinct, and its popularity is based solely on the fact that touchscreen is the new qwerty board so of course its going to be popular. that and the fact that this is the ONLY decent phone sprint has to offer its members that wont malfunction after a couple days of use. (a friends treo had to be replaced 5 times!) Oh.. and lets not even start on the fact that one mediocre phone is not enough to make one put up with sprints horrible horrible customer service. my whole experience was a nightmare with sprint, and their network?! ( and i do use the word network very loosely here) is laughable. i couldnt get more than 2 or 3 bars the entire time i had the phone. whenever i sent a text msg i got a 97 error code telling me to contact customer service, and when i did they were either barely speaking english idiots, or english speaking idiots. those are the only two types of customer service reps sprint has. the ONLY redeemable quality is the TeleNav GPS … in that since it does rival the iphone.
ps .. the 2mgp camera is worse than on any phone ive ever had. all the pictures come out grainy and unclear
