Call of Duty 4 connection problems
PS3 Daily have given a personal account of their experiences with Call of Duty 4 and the connection problems you get, they have wrote a detailed post about how they love the game but also have nothing but connection problems on the Sony PS3. The good news is they have found a way to fix this after presuming it to be a Tiscali problem.

While we know that many other COD4 gamers on the Tiscali broadband service have also reported this P2P problem, it must be true that Tiscali has some part to play or they would not have thousands of gamers complaining in their forums. The main problem is not with finding a game with people you do not know in COD4, but it seems to come from connecting to friends. As a Playstation 3 owner on BT, I have also seen this problem with certain friends but others seem to connect just fine.

Have you had any trouble connecting to your friends in Call of Duty 4 on the Sony PS3 or Xbox 360?

PS3 Daily is unsure if Tiscali still have the P2P problem as they said, “Are they still having problems? Let me explain, as said above playing online gamers allows me to connect and play away but playing friends is a no go. Well I have found a way to get connections all the time when you have troubles”. If they are able to get connected by changing a setting then surely it cannot be their ISP or can it?

The way they have found to get connected to friends in COD 4 seems very annoying and something I personally would not have fun doing, surely there is a better way. Maybe changing ISP’s could help. Visit PS3 Daily and see how they found a way to get connected and also let us know if you have any problems inviting friends for a game.

FYI: If the host (random player) disconnects, the game drops.

Well, I have played for over 130 hours and have seen many problems inviting friends into a game, nothing to-do with a player hosting a game and leaving. This is with getting error 33 or errors connecting when inviting friends and connecting to friends. COD4 works with P2P and some ISp’s do not know the difference between gaming P2P and other types.

It’s got nothing to do with ISPs knowing the difference between Gaming or P2P. I think you will find they know quite a bit about the subject. This is more to do with ISPs traffic managing P2P (and or torrents). This is a wide spread practice amongst ISPs. Then along comes a games mfr that decides to use a restricted traffic type and hey presto, everyone has a problem. I see two solutions:
    1) ISPs stop managing P2P
    2) Games mfrs let ISPs know in advance what protocol and ports their traffic will use.
Sadly I can’t see either happening, but you never know :o)

this is true espically if ur on tiscali, it was fine at first but then i couldnt log on at peak times, one reason is the fact that call of duty 4 multplayer uses p2p technology for their online gaming,
