Will Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 gamers stop Call of Duty 4 for COD 5?
June 26, 2008 | Filed under Gaming, Sony Playstation 3, Xbox 360

When I first got my hands on Call of Duty 4 (that’s a while ago now), I played the single player game for a few hours and loved it and then it all stopped. The reason for this was discovering the online gaming side of COD 4 and now I have never looked back, most of my gaming time goes to moving towards prestige 10. The reason many gamers love COD4 is for the fantastic online play, how good the action is and the fact that it’s modern combat.
Now with Call of Duty 5 insight and some gameplay should have been showed at Microsoft’s gaming event yesterday, we got to ask if Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 gamers will stop Call of Duty 4 for COD 5’s WWII game?
The moment we can get our hands on COD5 it will be played a lot. That said, if the World at War game is not as much fun online as COD4, then I could see myself moving back to COD4. Can you see yourself doing the same thing?
The reason we try new games is to see how good they are but if you enjoy another game much more then you would naturally play that instead. Just because a newer version of a game gets released it does not mean we have to drop the last version, you can see this with many games on the PC over the years, people still play Counter Strike.
Call of Duty 4 has been one of the biggest games ever to hit the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, it’s beat records of online play and we will have to see a very good COD5 to make a lot of gamers move on, well that’s unless they get bored of COD4.

I can relate to that as when GTA IV came out I was really into it!! but when I had completed it and still had many side missions to do and basically enjoy the game as free roaming like I did on GTA III. Instead of doing this I went straight back to COD4, thats how addictive that online multiplayer is!!
I WILL PROBABLY KEEP PLAYING COD4 BECAUSE I LIKE THE MODERN WEAPONS
No. Activision saw that COD4 was a big money-maker, so now they’ve rushed the production of COD5 for some extra cash in their pockets. Either way, the co-developer skips from good to sucky every other COD game, so we won’t see another good one until COD6.
Whatever. Modern Warfare is awesome, but going back to the old-fashioned crap AGAIN is just predictable… I, for one, will keep playing COD4 [online] on my PS3. I’ve gotten really, really good at it, and I’m not just about to abandon a game that came out recently.
People will stick with COD4 or Halo 3. COD5 is back to WWII and the whole WWII thing is old and stale.
@Chris
COD3 was rushed (which explains the suckage). COD5 was not rushed. COD5 has been in production for 2 years; which means development started a full year before COD4 was considered to be a hit. This also explains why it is still WWII; they just didn’t know if modern combat would be accepted by the fans.
COD5 will be a quality game. However, I agree with Daniel; COD5 will probably not beat COD4. The fans was to move out of WWII and into the modern world. I would expect all COD games moving forward to be set in modern times.
Looking at the trailer that is on PSN (and Live presumably) i think CoD:W@W will be a very good game…The ability to hide in trees, fox holes, flame throwers and samuri swords is an exciting cocktail!!! And unlike previous Treyarch games they have had two years to get things right. Fingers crossed ay..
