sony ps3 outsells nintendo wii
The Playstation 3 (PS3) has beat Nintendo Wii for the 3rd time, all those PS3 gamers will be happy to know that the Sony console has outsold the Wii and this is thanks to the awesome game Metal Gear Solid 4 (MGS4).

The PS3 has outsold the Wii worldwide for the week of June 7th to June 14th; well this is what VGChartz has reported. To break it down this is basically the 7th time the Sony PS3 was able to outsell the Nintendo Wii in the States, but in Japan this was the 3rd time. We say the mega PS3 console sales is all thanks to the release of Metal Gear Solid 4, and with the Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle for example the Wal-Mart deal which features a $100 gift card with the purchase of any PS3, you know that is an amazing deal.

We could put a number of reasons why the Sony PS3 dominated the Wii; want to hear them do you? Well how about these for example: 1) Nintendo Wii shortages, you know hard to get hold of the damn things and this could possibly be why the PS3 dominated. 2) Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle helped the PS3 sales. 3) Sony PS3 is more superior (maybe).

Why do you think the Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) dominated the Nintendo Wii in sales for the week of June 7th to June 14th?

I did hear that Mario Kart Wii outsold Metal Gear Solid 4 last week, which makes me question VGCharts’ number…

  2. Dave says:

Thats in the US only Jed, in Japan MGS4 sold 456,000 in 3 days mario kart sold 38,000

  3. Jason says:

It should also be noted that Mario Kart Wii has been available in Japan for over two months now. We’ll see how many copies MGS4 sells in two months.

    @ Jed, Dave, Jason

All of you realize what this thread is about, don’t you? Re-read the last paragraph, then read the question in BOLD BLACK writing, and get your comments inline with the thread, or start hating on fanboys and all types of fanboyism (i.e. Jed and Jason).

Obviously the release of MGS4 had a lot to do with this, but let’s not start a f***in flame war over something so futile.

So everyone that was wating for MGS4 to get a PS3 has done so by now. Now PS3 sales will crash until the overhyped Killzone 2.

  6. Joe says:

Yeah, when FF13 comes out exclusive to the PS3, and people realize that a dvd disc isn’t enough to hold a true next gen game then people will regret buying the 360.

  7. Grey Fox says:

Yeah like Halo 3 isn’t the most over hyped game ever? That was a medicore game at best…

The reason for the sales spike: Metal Gear 4 is a master piece!!!!!

Shut up about Halo 3 already. When are people going to let it go already. I hear you Playstation fanboys cut up Halo because the story line is weak or too short, but it DOES have great replay value because it offers a fun online experience. I’m also hearing 360 fanboys cutting up MGS4 because it has too many cut scenes, but that’s because 360 has nothing that closely compares to MSG4 or the FF series, but that doesn’t mean 360 games’ quality is less than it was pre-MGS4 does it? No! Both systems are a blast.

I think that another poster, JBristle (AKA JBreezy, a 360 fanboy), was on to something when he said “the definition of a fanboy is someone who can’t afford both consoles”. He’s wrong by definition, but I do believe that people who can only afford one console, including JBristle (says he has a PS3 and 360, yet will only buy multiplatform games on the 360…fanboy) are more often than not fanboys. Fanboys seem to own only one console so they spend the rest of thier time justifying why their investment was a good one. The answer to the question “What gaming system is the best” is an answer of judgement and nothing more, since you can judge it by Console Sales, Software sales, number of available titles, attach rate, game quality, and so on. See, the only judgement that matters is yours, but that judgement should end with you; if it doesn’t, please see my advise in my tag line.

All you fanboys should be thrown into a river with a rock tied to both ankles.

Come on already, find something new to flame about on these threads. The 360 has some great games, as does the PS3. Both systems have a bunch of games that flopped too, but that’s the developers’ fault, not the consoles’. Quit ragging on consoles and start ripping on the people who deserve it like EA for making Def Jam’s Icon (PS3 & 360, Midway for making Hour of Victory (360) or Ubisoft for making Enchanted Arms (PS3, but maybe the worst game ever made for this generation of consoles).

    lol, bias and completely redundant.

  10. tgrass21 says:

Halo 3 wasn’t over rated, people expected the world of it and that was the problem because Halo was already great, there wasn’t much change needed. The graphics are actually really well done. The lighting, textures, architecture and geometry of the game is insane if you know anything about gaming. Campaign was ok but 4 palyer co-op campaign is still played 1 million times a week to this day and multiplyer is still played by 2 million people a week.

MGS4 is great but there isnt much replay value. MGS online could use alot of improvements because it doesn’t stand out from any other 3PS games.
