Will Metal Gear Solid 4 (MGS4) make you buy a Sony PS3?

PS3 Daily said the other day that Metal Gear Solid 4 was Sony’s answer to Halo 3 and also showed us some new MGS4 gameplay videos, today we ask if Metal Gear Solid 4 will make you buy a Sony Playstation 3?

Having owned a PS3 for some time, I do not need to buy one but when the PS3 gets exclusive games and ones that are as big MGS then you got to think that this will increase sales. The amount of PS3’s sold for gamers getting MGS4 is the real question. This could be a massive increase or just minor.

If you do not own a PS3, will you buy one for MGS4?

As the game has now been released worldwide we will see the results of this new release within the next month or two. MGS4 does look pretty cool and some of the games features do look fun, these include being able to distract enemy soldiers by planting playboy magazines and the different ways Snake can use camouflage. The game is said to have a massive single player game, but with any game these days, it’s the online gameplay that is key to long-term success.

Let us know your thoughts of MGS4 and also check out some gameplay videos on PS3 Daily.

I spent $500 for MGS4… Totally Worth it! Best Game/Series ever!

MGS4 was beyond my expectations. I thought it would be good, but that was an understatement. I’m not a fan of cinematic cut-scenes, not that I don’t like them or anything, just that I don’ judge a game by the cut scenes. The camo-gear is crazy fun, makes sneaking around a blast. The dart gun has always been a personal fav of mine, and having Drebin in the game makes life so much easier when you decide to go ape-$h*t with a 200 round machine gun (i.e. Vamp).

The game on Naked Snake difficulty (medium) took around 20-25 hrs; you can literally walk through guns blazing on that difficulty and never have to sneak around. Playing it through again the the difficulty level above Naked Snake, and if you try guns blazing you’ll just die. MGS4 should really be played above the Naked Snake level so you truely utilize the whole ‘Sneak’ aspect of the game, otherwise it’s just a walk in the park.

All and all, the story was a beauty and truely did tie up almost all loose ends, the in-game graphics are great, weapon variety was much better than I expected, and camera angles have really cleaned up since the last MGS (no more 45 degree angel above/behind). The one level when Snake’s dreaming in the helicopter and you play a level from the original MSG was perfectly placed; it helps show how far the series has come.

I would recommend Metal Gear Solid for PS3 owner. I’ve owned all my systems since the day they came out, so I didn’t go buy one just for this game. I don’t know why people keep comparing or equating Halo 3 and MGS4, they are such different games and their not even in the same genre of games (STOP ACTING LIKE F***IN MS AND SONY FANBOYS)

    **Stop fanboyism; hang yourself**

I already own a 60GB PLAYSTATION 3 and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. This game is perfect a must have it already helped Sony sell out the new MGS4 Bundle pack. If you don’t own a PS3 you shouldn’t consider yourself a gamer just a wannabe.

    Praneeth,
Even though all the previous MG games are stealth only games.. If you actually played MGS4, you would realize this version can be play however you like. They changed it up for this final game in the series. If you find stealth to be to difficult, you can actually run in a gun everyone down to the last man. I think they aimed this game at pretty much everyone.

This is one of the best games ever made for a console period. If you have the money, buy a ps3 and mgs4. If you have a ps3, buy mgs4.

  8. Sev says:

£340 is a lot to pay considering its the only one worth playing on ps3.

  9. Jamie says:

thats not true, your not buying a gaming console your buying an entertainment system. dvds, music, blu ray, photo’s, Digital tv (soon). all these things you can do on the ps3, and about the games, there are quite a few games out worth buying, and the games coming in the next few months (amazing)
£340 to me for all that your getting with the system is a pretty damn good deal i think.

  10. Slippy Sloppy says:

I think the price is still too high if you only want to play games and don’t want a Blu-Ray player. If you then do it’s pretty good price compared to buying a stand alone player.

MGS4 sounds like it’s sorted it’s camera limitations out and if I had a PS3 I’d def get it but it’s still not enough to make me buy a PS3.
