PS3 Daily said the other day that Metal Gear Solid 4 was Sony’s answer to Halo 3 and also showed us some new MGS4 gameplay videos, today we ask if Metal Gear Solid 4 will make you buy a Sony Playstation 3?
Having owned a PS3 for some time, I do not need to buy one but when the PS3 gets exclusive games and ones that are as big MGS then you got to think that this will increase sales. The amount of PS3’s sold for gamers getting MGS4 is the real question. This could be a massive increase or just minor.
If you do not own a PS3, will you buy one for MGS4?
As the game has now been released worldwide we will see the results of this new release within the next month or two. MGS4 does look pretty cool and some of the games features do look fun, these include being able to distract enemy soldiers by planting playboy magazines and the different ways Snake can use camouflage. The game is said to have a massive single player game, but with any game these days, it’s the online gameplay that is key to long-term success.

Hmm… MGS4, although it has a FPS mode is NOT an FPS game. It’s a third person stealth game.
Personally no as (apart from MSG1 on the PS1) I’ve found the games a little boring due excessive cutscenes and the camera angles have always frustrated me. Having said that if I was to get a PS3 within the next month I would probably purchase the game. I know that might not make sense but my point is, if I had a PS3 spending £40 on the game of the moment isn’t a huge cost but spending £340 just to play it is.
I got mgs4 when it came out and to tell you the truth I never played any of the other mgs games. A person who has never played the game can still understand the story. This game is a must buy for people who own a ps3 or are getting one. This is the first game I have played where the hair is more alive. ign gave it a 10/10 and I give it the same. alot of cut scenes but are really amazing to watch.
this is a perfect ending to snake the story was was great and ofcourse this one would have more talking and cut scenes then the other it is the final chapter of a great hero unlike Halo3(it was short).
This was a story for the MGS series fans.If it was a book you would have read it if was a movie you would have watched it. The acton was intense and the story of an aging snake on his last mission was perfect this game completed the series like none other and that is why critics and people enjoy it so much it officially puts a hero to rest.
My buddy bought the 80GB bundle over the weekend so there are people out there who will be convinced to buy a ps3 b/c of this game.
I already have a ps3 but strangley enough I bought mine because of gran turismo which isnt even out yet.
BTW MGS4 is awesome
I bought the PS3 JUST FOR MGS4… best $500 ever spent.
Slippy Sloppy
all u just said is BS.
so go ahead and play your gaylo wich is 3 hrs long of game play,mgs4 is 30 hrs long of game play.
cutsences are not part of the 30 or 40 hr game play,so shut your whining.
Yeah, I waited for the bundle and picked one up the first day it was on sale. There was a short line at the Best Buy outside waiting for them to open. I would say I saw half a dozen mgs and 80gb bundles sold in the few minutes I was in the store. When Blu-Ray won the HD DVD war (and I have the Toshiba…) I knew I would have to make the Blu-Ray switch soon than I had planned. Looking around the PS3 is the way to go for Blu-Ray. I had to ‘wait’ for bundle, it just made sense to spend $100 more and get the game, the better controller and the ‘better’ console. (more space, some PS2 compatibility, memory stick support).
I am not a gamer. Haven’t owned a ‘console’ since the Atari days. I am having fun with MGS. I do find the third person perspective to be confusing and my ability to perform in a gun fight is pretty lame but I will get better with some practice.
I expect Sony to see a pop in sales from the MGS bundle from what I say at Best Buy and I imagine there were others like me that ‘put off’ buying one until this bundle came out.
I played through the first time in 20 hours…. so i dunno where you got 30 or 40 from; also the cutscenes are included in the total hours played. The best part isnt the length its the replayability theres so much to unlock! Altair suit is great : Easily my favourite game ever
p.s why bring up halo 3 its a mgs4 thread.
