This is a quick post to confirm to you that the 3G iPhone (aka iPhone 2.0) is VERY real. At the WWDC 2008 just moments ago Steve Jobs has confirmed the existence of the new iPhone and its release.
Details are still coming in, but what we know so far is not only that Al Gore and Walt Mossberg were there but also the features of iPhone 2 (3G) include faster data downloads, Flush headphone jack, Improved audio, Solid metal buttons, the same gorgeous 3.5-inch display, shame its the same camera, Black, Thinner at the edges, 3G speeds are actually approaching WiFi, Full plastic back and what we always wanted GPS.

The battery life is better with 2G talk time is up from 8 hours to 10 hours, 3G talk time at 5 hours, 5-6 hours of high speed browsing and 7 hours video and audio at 24 hours.
Compared to the nokia N95 and Treo 750 (both are 3G phones), the 3G iPhone is 36% faster. An Email attachment downloaded over 3G took five seconds and on EDGE it took eighteen seconds. The 3G iPhone is so much faster and will make all sorts of data downloading like lighting in comparison.
Everyone had the words “Apple iPhone” on their minds today while in line for the WWDC 2008 and Steve Jobs keynote, no one ever thought this years WorldWide Developer Conference would not have the second generation iPhone and the good news was it did happen, its real people…now what you going to do.
