65nm Jasper chipset for Xbox 360: end of RROD

If you combine the stories you hear about the Xbox 360 RROD and also my own personal experience of the so called “red ring of death”, the Xbox 360 was for me so loud you had to turn up your television sound to hear it and it would even heat up the room. We have heard for a long time that the better 65nm chips were coming out, it has been very confusing for many console owners, some even thought the new Elite Xbox 360’s had this better chip, but then after hearing Elites getting the RROD…that cannot be the case.

Today we are hearing that this August should see the release of the new 65nm Jasper chipset for Xbox 360 and if that’s the case, we could see the end of RROD once and for all. Most people will agree the 360’s drive noise, excessive heat and impression of eating games is all to real.

This is what we know so far:
Its being reported that Taiwanese companies are taking contracts for the new 65nm chips; these new chips should pump out less heat, use less wattage and be out by August 2008. The fun does not stop there, we are also hearing that Fall 2009 could see the rumored Valhalla chipset and that version is meant to combine the GPU and CPU into a new super-efficient chip.

    @Jasper

    Really? You bought a new one instead of just sending it in? I’ve heard it can take a while sometimes, but usually you’ll get it back within 3 weeks.

    Microsoft is now actually fixing (or giving a new 360) the rrod. and like Harman sated it is so much cheaper if you send it in to Microsoft instead of buying a brand new one. or just buying those stupid pointless replacement plans the retail stores offer. Since you will never need them *rolls eyes*

      Look, I got a Arcade that had flash memory in-built and was a Jasper and it malfunctioned within a month and a week. I tell you Jasper is not the savior. Better stop expecting good from Microsoft. How come they cannot fix the problem? MS is a billion dollor corporation,actually they can solve the problem within a matter of month ,however, they want customers to drain money. MS knows that the customers will be in a permanent bondage if they line up a lot of fun games and happy happy X box live. Their net-income basically comes from Membership card and from the hardware itself. They want to take advantage through making customers buy their hardware. Game disks themselves dont make that much of a income because some percent of the share will go to the company that produced it. Guess most of the public doesn’t know but the truth is that Microsoft’s head branch does the inspection check for Windows reliability. They are good at detecting mulfunctions and particular prblem within the condensers storage. You civilians better be wiser and realize the scheme of Giant corporations. But I still think X box 360 has good graphics and games. But thats how you get raped up.

    My X box360 arcade that I bought in Jan 2009 was surely a Jasper. Compared to the previous falcon it runs cooler and functions pretty well. However, I got fucked this month by it. Jasper had turned her back on me. It didn’t RROD but gave a irregular sound and the screen showed up the strange numbers and letters. And After I plugged it off and turned it back on therre is no response. It Lasted for more than a month so rejoice for the creation that Microsoft made. I should have gotten the PS3 only. Why did everyone hail 360’s dick? I got decieved and had my money fucked out from my ______. Everyone listen! The online for360 was good and 360 gave me a good feeling but this joy wont last for long. If you dont care about spending your money it’s ok but you see, I spent about $1200 for the cunt box 360. You claim PS3 is expensive? Give me fucking break! I bought Resident evil 5 for both of them but I prefer PS3 graphic cuz it’s just refine while Xbox360’s graphic is clear and good but the particles of the pixel is not meticulous enough. Well but overall X box is still good but only the hardware problems I do not like.

    Yeah, because we all know that just because it happened to you, it’s gonna happen to every 360. /sarcasm
    A 360 that dies but didn’t get the ring of death? That’s a one in a thousand chance. Just about every 360 out there that has failed got the RROD. The odds of getting anything else are really, really low. Everyone I know with a Xenon or Zephyr 360 has had it RROD in about one year (1 made it 2 years). The 2 people I know with a Falcon have not it fail on them yet. And if they do fail, it’ll be RROD. The Jasper pretty much eliminates the RROD because it runs so cool compared to before. So while it won’t RROD, it still may get other weird errors, and the chances of getting those are the same on PS3 and Wii. RROD was the worst thing ever, and screw over many people. Microsoft knew that the problem existed before launching the 360, but thought that they could fix the problem in a few months. Turns out, it took a few years instead, so meanwhile, they tried to brush off the problem. Anyway, what I’m saying basically is that you are unlucky for buying that 360. I’m sure any other one would not fail on you. Send in your 360, it’s still under warrenty, and it’ll be back in a few weeks, a month at the most.

    I want to buy Xbox 360 Jasper - but how can I recognize that it’s Jasper not Falcon
    please help me out

    My Xenon unit, purchased in December of 2005, just got the RROD error. Unfortunately it is 4 months out of the new warranty. I guess in lasting over 3 years, I was one of the lucky ones. Anyway, a new Elite is on the way and I am hoping for the best. Good luck all.

    I bought sony 60GB PS3 loved it cod4 great it stopped playing any disc,s sony did send me a repaired one as they did not make that model new anymore. I got rid and bought a new 60GB xbox360 jasper model playing cod4 again looks great in HD and the added rumble so much better, the xbox is a games machine at the end of the day the ps3 is a glorified expensive dusty box.
