Grand Theft Auto IV Meets Politics: Barack Obama’s view of GTA 4

You have only got to play a game of Call of Duty 4 and you will hear kids talking on the chat, now they are not meant to be on that game and many others, but they do as the parents do not monitor them, or do not mind. Now that Grand Theft Auto IV has been released on the Sony PS3 and Xbox 360, you got to think about children playing a game meant for ages 18+.

The fact is they will be and this is an issue that has also been recently talked about by the possible next United States President, Barack Obama. Barack made the claim during a speech in Indiana, he said, “Now, this isn’t intended for kids, although I promise you there are kids who are playing it, but these video games are raising our kids”.

He is right, as kids today play video games many hours per week, but it’s the parents responsibility to make sure the games being played educate our children as well as give them fun. Personally, I use brain-training games and other similar games for my children, these very games have helped my children improve massively in school. Although they still have fun playing other games, but I can assure you, these games do not include strippers and prostitutes like in GTA 4.

Barack Obama said that Americans need to encourage their children to switch the TV off and focus on doing well in school, although my opinion is games can help children, if they are the correct ones. It’s all about what you feed the minds of the future.

I think Barack Obama is right we need to make sure our children dont play games like GTA 4 and other Grand Theft Auto games.Even some on the computer like that site Adult Swim wich is for ADULTS that is why it is called ADULT Swim.we need them to play games like funbrain.com.

I disagree withthis statement. I think that it's just fine for our children to play those games as long as they know that they are just fiction and are not real. Now it is up to the parents to make these desisions until their children are eightteen. Personaly i've been playing these games since i was a kid and im 21 now so i may not be the most experienced parent, but i let my kids play, and im not a bad person. I've never gotten a ticket in my life, and i have never been arrested, i have a stable job and my kids are fine. I'm just a typical parent that loves GTA 4, and so do my kids.
