For those of you who are getting exited with the upcoming release of the new Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, then I think that you will be left with a disappointing taste in your mouth, just check out this footage and you will know exactly what I mean.

When watching this footage it does not look like anything has changed from this new game and the old one, and we know how boring Street Fighter used to be. When watching Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix closely I have noticed that the characters movements are not even smooth, gamers of this day and age will not put up with things like that.

The reason that things are not smooth in the game is because the developers decided to just draw on top of the old sprites, which means that no new animation had to be drawn. I just do not think that this game will prove popular. It just all seems a waste of time to have 1080 HD sprites. A word of advice gamers, do not waste your storage space on this garbage.

New Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix will feature all the same characters from the old game and will have two gameplay modes. As they have remade this game, I do worry that they no might to try and re-release the old Street Fighter movie.

Did you ever stop and think that people actually want to play street fighter 2 again? It is easily one of the best arcade fighters ever made, and in 1080p with online play only makes it better.

Wow. Never have I read such an ignorant video game article in my life. Like Jessica said, did you ever stop to think the fans (which there are millions of, and if you don’t believe me, look at the sales for Street Fighter II Hyperfighting on Xbox Live Arcade) would want to not only play again, but this time with redrawn high definition sprites, new backgrounds, rearranged music, and most of all, online play? Anyone who is a Street Fighter fan is already looking forward to this, and already knows that there is no new animation to be had, because simply, it doesn’t need it. For a brand new Street Fighter experience, fans have Street Fighter IV to look forward to. This will more then suffice for now.

What are you blind? It looks great. They could’ve just ported the arcade original, instead we’re given redrawn HD graphics with remixed music. I could careless of the animation frames.
If they added more animations, it would change the gameplay and timing of the game. I wouldn’t want to relearn a game I play well, and I’m sure other Super Street Fighter Turbo fans would agree.

I have to agree and disagree with you at the same time.

Originally, I thought we were going to have SF3 caliber graphics along with HD sprites, but when I heard that doing that would not only make the game extremely large in file size but also different from the original release (in ways listed below), I was a little disappointed.

    Actually, a whole lot disappointed.

David Sirlin, though, explained his reasons as to why this was done however in an article I read recently:

    - Size was the main concern, and with X-Box Live’s mandate about keeping the downloads for Arcade titles capped at 50 Megs, it’s been really difficult to produce the game and stay within boundaries. There’s been talk/rumor that the powers that be might make an exception for SSF2THD when the final product is released, but if not, this game might take longer to complete.

    - Preserving the Gameplay of the original release of “Super Street Fighter II Turbo” is also paramount to the development team behind it. Some of you may not believe this, but there are players out there that are so in-tune with the original release that they inherently know the nuances of characters down the the very frame of animation. Combos, cancels, and counters all rest on this kind of experience and dedication to this game and to add anymore frames of animation to gloss the game’s already impressive remastering would throw the timing completely off and years of experience out the window for anyone looking for a faithful remake of this game. The players devout to the original SSF2THD are main audience Sirlin and his team is developing this for.

Some of you will probably counter this with “If they are putting out an HD version, why go through the effort to re-tread the older one?” To the newer players that either didn’t play the original or barely played the original to care, SSF2THD is considered one of the greatest 2-D fighters ever created and is still hotly contested in tournaments to this day all around the world. Including the biggest tourney in fighting games, Evo. In order to bring the game into a new era of players, a visual upgrade was necessary but to change it up too much would make it a complete different game, not the remake that it is intended to be. If the final product is received well, I’m sure that at the next Evo, we’ll see this version replace the original version of SSF2T and become the preferred one to play.

What I’m hoping for ultimately is that not only that this HD version of SSF2T is released but eventually Sirlin hits us with a SSF2THD on a disc that has:

    - The faithful remake, with the mechanics and original frame count.
    - A true remix that is an HD version of “Street Fighter II Anniversary Edition” including every version of SFII including SSF2T.
    - Last but not least, it should have a new, perfected version that has animation on par with the quality of SF3 and be like nothing we’ve played before, Hopefully with multiple supers like “Street Fighter Alpha” or a “Super Art” select like “Street Fighter III”. (I’d cry like a newborn if this happens.)

To me something like that would be worth $40 - $50 bucks, and I’d happily plunk that down to own this.

In the meantime, if aesthetics is all you want in a game or if 3D is more of your style, I beg you, stay away from this game. This is purely for the old school and SF/2D Fighting enthusiasts. If anything, the upcoming “Street Fighter IV” might be more up your alley.

Hope to see you all online when SSF2HD is released. Catch me on XBox Live (”Soul Bro Ryu”), and challenge me sometime. Until then…

    Peace,
    Soul Bro Ryu

Completely ignorant article, the whole point of this game is to revive the memory of the old game that we all loved… Also, it was never boring!!!!

Love the game!!! Wondering why it took so long to come out.
