Most Played Xbox 360 Live Game: not COD4 or Halo 3, Microsoft says GTA IV

Since moving from the Xbox 360 I do not miss the hardware at all, but Xbox Live is another question, it is a much better setup than the Sony PS3’s online service and well worth the price you have to pay each year, the biggest feature I miss is the way the online chat is so flexible.
In saying that, I will also point out that going back to the Xbox 360 is not an option. Microsoft has surprised many with, the director of product management for Xbox Live and the 360, Aaron Greenberg, saying that he feels it wouldn’t be a surprise to see GTA IV take the top spot on Xbox Live for most played game. Having played Halo 3 and the amount of people online was amazing when it was first released, followed by COD4 ruling the Sony PS3 and Xbox 360 for online play. Now it looks like we may see a new leader, could it get the crown for most gamers online ever for a single game?
What would you rate as the best game out of Call of Duty 4, Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV?
Aaron Greenberg went on to say that the multiplayer in GTA IV “is so well implemented that I can’t imagine anyone owning a copy without trying to play it on Xbox Live“, and that this game could bring many gamers that would not normally use Live.

I have played all three games on XBOX Live. I still believe Call of Duty to be the best game online for hardcore tactical gaming. Halo and GTA are not tactical. GTA has a huge map, helicopters and loads of other stuff but it doesn’t gel like cod4. The loading screens for GTA4 are very annoying whilst the ‘lobby’ area prior to a muliplayer match seems like an atari setup from the late 80’s. Halo i think was a great game but when it comes to real modern warfare COD 4 wins hands down for online play. GTA4 wins the single player contest hands down with upto 30+ hours of missions on a huge map with all the usual GTA benefits, ie strip clubs, prostitutes, fights etc etc but there is just something about COD4 that even after paying £50 for GTAIV I still played COD4 before bedtime!
I haven’t played GTA4 online as of yet as i intend to finish the single player mode first and but i’m nearly 60% and can’t wait. I have to agree though that PSN has been a great disappointment to me, while i respect Sony for making it free i believe that maybe a option to use a fee paying mode with better servers and features or the standard free service would have been a better way to go as my PS3 has been almost redundant short of a few exclusive games.
On a side note i have to take issue with IGN’s review of GTA4, i bought it on 360 for the online and DLC while my brother bought it on PS3 mostly because the IGN review and others who said the graphics were slightly better, having played both versions i and my brother both believe that the 360 version has the edge on both graphics and framerate, the PS3 version seems to have slightly fuzzy look on my HD TV and i’ve been reading online that the PS3 version is only 630p and is upscaled to 720/1080p while the 360 is 720p native which would explain why the 360 version looks sharper. Also the PS3 framerate tends to get a little bit choppy at times which i’ve not noticed so much on the 360 although it’s really not something you would notice unless you were looking for it.
Anyway which ever version you get you’ll not be disappointed, if you have both consoles and are not swayed by DLC or online preferences i suggest you try both versions before you buy and make up your own mind then you can’t go wrong.
HALO 3 has by far the BEST multiplayer set up of any game ever!!!!!! The ranking system is also way better than COD 4, you can actually level down, where COD you just keep accumulating points and keep moving up. Plus you can have 4 players on 1 console get online at the same time. Four player campaign Co-op over XBox Live made it so much better, can´t do that with COD. GTA 4 is pretty much the same game as before although the online is great it´s no HALO 3. COD and GTA have taken time away from HAlO but they can never replace it. I´m pretty much done with COD 4, how many times do I want to do Prestige mode? I think 5 is enough. I´m still chasing that level 50 in HALO 3, which may never happen but I´s a blast trying!!

I have both ps3 and xbox 360 and both versions look exactly the same. I’ve played both on 1080p, and I have not noticed anything buggy about it. I even tried to mess around with the ps3 version to see if I could come up with a glitch, but I couldnt. If you hate the ps3 so much, then just say it, rather than moking it.
As for the article goes, GTA IV is amazing online, compared to COD4. and I really love COD4
Halo 3 was gay! The worst Halo game of all time! The original was superb! The 2nd Halo reinvented the series. And the 3rd just fucken killed the series! Hands down, Halo 3 had no Banshees in the single player. The marines weren’t as comical as they were in Halo 1.
Master Chief became an idiot now jumping 2 kilometers out of flying airplanes, nearly killing himself. Cortana looked like a fat whore posing for America’s Next Top model! And too many role key players in Halo 3 died. And why in the hell can’t the Arbitor go invisible anymore!? Huh???…erm…
Anywho, overall the plot for Halo 3 wasn’t that great, but it was ok. Now I’ll admit, I was a huge fanboy of the original Halo, and I liked the 2nd one, but not as much as the first one. But Halo 3 fucken killed it for me!
I asked myself, why in the HELL did I buy such a stupid game!….Sigh….Overall until I buy GTA 4, COD4 is by FAR the best out of the 3!
Halo 3 doesn’t even come no where NEAR COD4! Halo 3 has lost it’s touch as a Halo game. When I play it, I ask myself “Is this a Halo game I’m playing!? Or is this just another rip off of COD4, Gears of War, etc.”
…..I hope Halo 4 resurrects the Halo series. I seriously do! For now, I’ll stick with playing COD4, Halo 2, Forza Sport, and Gears of War. FUCK Halo 3!!!!

I think you’ve got the wrong end of the stick, where exactly did i say that the PS3 version was “buggy” or had “glitchs”?
all i said was that IGN’s review was flawed and that if there was any visible difference i’d give the 360 version the edge as the PS3 version looked slightly fuzzy or blurred.

halo all the way.. the single player mode is way better, there is more freedom to play.. in cod the games is so linear, u can finish the game in 2hrs max if u rush things and do the objectives..

Uhm, i dont play any of these games.. but i know that the halo serious was around long before gears of war / CoD4
Wow these are all great games. Halo has a average single player mode as does CoD4 but both are amazing to play online. GTA4 has a great Single player but i havnt played it online =[
I Like cod 4 and love GTA But I have got 2 admit Halo 3 I love. ok I would probaly say that cod 4 is the most online played game, then halo 3 then Gta lV. I prefer Halo 3 because the machmaking is more fun, ok you get Idiots who swear like know tommorow but you do on allmost every game. Maybe the (future of sega) is right about the halo 3 campaign but they make it up with good matchmaking great maps, and the obility to edit your own maps all that Has got to count for something so just give Bungie a break. Your intitoled to your apinion but if you dont like Halo why dont you just sell it. cmon is that so hard, I enjoy the Halo campaign and so do my mates 4 player co-op pawning flood and covernant it is like a dream come true.
