This might seem a weird versus of video games at first, but the reason I compare them is because many gamers (Including myself) have spent well over 100 hours playing Call of Duty 4 on Sony PS3 (in my case) and the Xbox 360. Now at 9am in the morning I will have Grand Theft Auto IV for the Playstation 3 in my hands and then comes the decision of which game will get your time.
I have no doubt that in the short term I will be playing GTA 4 much more and I might not even play COD4 for many weeks, but what kind of lastability will GTA 4 have and will it live up to the expectations as you can see in Peter’s review earlier today?
So if we are talking “Gameplay”, how many gamers will COD4 lose over the rest of this year in favor of GTA 4? I think it will be a big number, it will not be the single player part of Grand Theft Auto, as most people will complete that very quickly, instead it’s the FIRST TIME multiplayer gameplay that will keep GTA 4 in the games consoles.
So in the question of long-term gameplay, will Call of Duty 4 or Grand Theft Auto IV win?

1. The PS3 version of GTAIV runs in native 1080p FULL HD.
2. CoD4 was 2007 Game of The Year.
3. I’ll bet my life that GTA4 is 2008 Game of The Year.
4.CoD4 was released months ago. The fun has worn off a bit.
5. If both games were released on the same day, I think it would be a tie.
It will definitely be a long time until I advance in rank again on CoD4.

I believe that GTA IV will triumph. COD4 is the tits right now, but, like Superdynamite stated, COD4 is played out. I’ll still be playing COD4 from time to time, but with the new online functionality that GTA IV will have (’8 vs 8′, ‘4 vs 4 vs 4 vs 4′, Cops and Crooks, 1on1, etc) I know that GTA will be in my consoles way more offen than all my other games.

cod4 because i really don’t get gta i think its really repetitive and dull “look i can pointlessly kill people with no consequences” roll on Mgs4 a game with a proper story
Firstly I think that gta iv is a great game and it will take most of my gaming time then cofd 4 but the real game I have been waiting for is mgs4 which I think will have the best story line in gaming history it is a totally different game then gta iv but I know it has the potential to top gta iv for best game of 2008.
Well i beat GTA IV already the Xbox 360 leaked version. I can’t wait to get the full retail PLAYSTATION 3 version with no huge loading and better graphics. Xbox 360 has too much load time for this game. GTA IV will rape Call of Duty 4 it will shatter to a billion pieces GTA IV is the god the leader of everything games. No game can compete with GTA well maybe Metal Gear Solid 4 and FFXIII Resistance 2 Killzone 2 can.
I think COD4 will outlast GTA 4, for one reason. GT4 is fun and all but it gets boring fast.
COD4 will come out top with no issue - for about 6 weeks I think COD4 will lose alot of players to GTA4 as this is the game we all have been waiting for and lets face it brought our PS3/360 for.
But there will be a point in GTA4 where it will be so hard with some missions that people willl lose interest as we did with the PS2 versions.
Online sounds great but will it work as well as COD4? I think not!
The playability for COD4 has been far better than any game I have played and so has been the best values for money as in game hours played.
Dont get me wrong im looking forward to GTA4 as much as the next guy and have had the Special Edition on Order since last July, I dont think ive been looking for to a game since all the hype of Fade To Back on the PS1
Time will tell - But I dont think it shoud be COD4 vs GTA4 but COD4 & GTA4 in all our collections.

i prefer WARHAWK to COD4 multi player. basically WARHAWK is COD with tanks, jeeps, planes, apc’s and dropships. i had both and recently sold cod 4 since warhawk got most of my online time. some people prefer cod because its user friendly whereas warhawk has a wicked learning curve and takes a few weeks of getting your ass handed to you before you can hold your own on the battle field. warhawk is a much more complete battle experience, not as linear as cod.
