Sony PS3 Call of Duty 4 1.30 Update, COD4 Map Pack & Double XP Weekend

Starting today and all weekend it’s a very special time for Call of Duty 4 gamers, not only did I turn on my Sony PS3 today and get a COD4 game update to version 1.30 (its 12MB) but I also find out that the Call of Duty 4 map pack due early May has been moved forward to today and it’s downloading right now. In the UK this costs £6.99 and you get four maps, which include Killhouse, ChinaTown, Broadcast and Creek.

The fun does not stop there as this weekend we are getting a Double XP Weekend, the last time we had one of these on the Playstation 3 I moved up a whole prestige level. So obviously it will not be just me playing COD4 all weekend to get some nice double point action, lets hope the servers can take all the gaming and not crash as they have before.

The double XP weekend starts 12:01 AM GMT on Friday 25th and you can keep getting double points right up to 11:59 PM PDT on Sunday, April 27. If you’re a COD4 gamer on the PS3 then do not waste anytime, get onto the Playstation Store and go to “Game Add-ons” and you will see the COD4 map pack to download on the right, thank you Activision for the 358MB game pack. My user is Dansway if you ever fancy a game PS3 owners.

Update:
Just downloaded the bonus variety map pack and have noticed in Team Death Match (the new maps only) that you get 20 XP points per kill no matter where you shoot them, so it looks like extra points are coming early. Tried the older Team Death Match maps and they are still the same old XP points.

    Where do you live cuz its not out yet where i am even though its the 24th already. It doesn’t appear in the store and theres no update when i load cod4.

    check out the official infinty ward forums. 31000 members there, a lot are discussing the map pack now. Times of download availablilty also being discussed.

    Got the map pack, been playing loads, definitly worth it.
    The new maps will only be activated on ALL the game modes next week though.

    yea i have a ps3 and bought it, but it takes forever to download and sometimes it says an error has occurred. any advice?

    I had no issues downloading the update or maps. The update adds the variety map pack sections in ‘find games’ the only place where you can play the new maps. Also it’s been double points since yesterday afternoon 3:00 GMT and boy did i get some points last night. Yay!

    the playstation network is so slow, 2hrs i have been downloading the maps and im only 50%.. this is the 1st time im buying anything at psn and it be the last..

    hey MAXIMUS …. PSN is really fast I have downloaded over 10 items from there and it takes no time at all. Maybe you should think about upgrading you internet connection; you know moving from dial up to DSL or Cable. ;)

    i do have cable.. took me 8hrs to finish downloading.. 350mb??? 8hrs

    it took me 10-15 minutes and my internets not all that great.

    I had the same problem… it starts to download and it reaches to 30% and then it crushes on me leaving me with no internet connection. It pops up every time that I want to play the game and it crushes every sinlge time… if I do not install it then it wont let me connect to internet. It’s been a week since I can’t play online!!! It’s kiling me! Any advice??? This version 1.30 feels like a bug or virus…

    hahahahahaha you ps3 noobs. xbox 360 owners get double experience on ALL our maps. headquarters gives you ten xp every five seconds…*if you’re looking to lvl hq is the easiest way to go especially since the double xp thing is goin on*

    im pissed as hell i cant handle it i just spent $650 on a ps3 and i cant even play call of duty 4 online and thats like the reason reason y i got the damn thing and downloading takes for ever and wen i try to download 1.30 it get to like 1 or 2 % and says a error has occured….plz and help?..

    I just bought COD4 for my PS3 last month and I’ve finished the game once so far, but I am unable to get on-line and play, what gives? Do I need to to update to 1.30? When I get to the on-line lobby, nothing happens… I’ve wait for others to join and I’ve explored all other options… what else do I have to do to play on-line?
