Nokia Tube takes on the Apple iPhone
Ok so it seems Nokia are getting ready for their official Apple iPhone response, the name is called Nokia Tube.

The Nokia Tube will feature a touch interface which cannot wait to play around with, and then I will tell you if it is as good as the iPhone. This brand new handset is apparently set to be as close as possible to the iPhone device and was shown at a slideshow at the Evans Data Developer Relations Conference in Redwood City, California.

The slideshow demonstrated the handsets UI plus a promotional shot featuring Shrek, vice president of Forum Nokia Tom Libretto has said that yes they do believe that they compete for the Apple iPhone’s market share even though they have not set a release date as of yet.

Apple have sold around 4 million phones since their launch but Tom Libretto said “We’ve done that [volume] since we’ve had dinner on Friday,” well let me say Libretto, yes you may have, but they were all low-end cell phones were they not?

Anyway we cannot wait to see this new handset, the world need the Nokia Tube and then and only then can we pair the two together.

If I were a Nokia shareholder I would be very worried.

Apple can own the high-end of the “phone” market because it’s not going to be a phone market. It’s a “hand-held computer that just so happens to have voice capability” market, and without a unified approach to the OS and application development, Nokia and the other manufacturers are fragmenting their market share into all these “specialist” phones that only appeal to small niches. They are nullifying the only advantage they have, size.

So they own a huge share of a commodity market. Ask Dell how that’s working out. What good is it if they can’t parlay a leadership position in the current handset market into a large share of this new “handheld computer”market.

Kinda looks like an iPhone copy, can’t Apple sue for this?

How can anybody claim iPhone being a “high-end” except for it’s pricing!!

I happen to have one and except for the sexy UI, it is no more than expensive paperweight. iPhoney is extremely limited device compared to most “low-end” phones.

Luckily there is a community which create excellent programs to allow iPhoney to be jailbroken so that there is a possiblility to install useful applications and customize it’s looks. Most iPhoney users have no clue about these possibilities because they are not provided by Apple nor ATT.

    iPhone, anyone?

Why dontt any other phone manufacturers- who have far more experience in the phone industry - want to give Apple a run for their money?

    It really does baffle me!
