It has been reported that this years Glastonbury event has suffered slow sales and it seems that it is because festival-goers want to see rock bands perform not hip-hop artists like Jay Z who is said to headline this year’s event in June.
It’s said that tickets are normally sold out in the first few hours but this year there are tickets still available 24 hours after they went on sale on April 6th.
Over the last couple of days rumours have been flying around that Jay-Z was so incensed at the adverse reaction to his scheduled performance, he had pulled out. But Michael Eavis said that “I spoke to his people this weekend. Everything is fine. I’m excited“.
Who would you like to see perform here rock bands or is hip hop ok?

I think it’s a combination of factors as to why Glastonbury is suffering slow sales. Last year the weather was terrible and the mud made it very difficult to move from place to place. Who wants to be stuck in the mud listening to J-Zed? Additionally they over sold the festival last year, with nearly 180,000 tickets. To me it felt dangerous on a site that previously maxed out at 137,000 people. There was a new stage that hardly anyone visited, as it’s the main and second stages that get all the attention. Last year also received a wealth of people who’d never been before and I suspect these people aren’t returning.
Add to that the trauma you have to go through to get tickets. With a poorly run online sales system and frequent crashes, I can see why so many people this year just haven’t bothered.
In short, poor weather, Jay-Z, too many people, newbies who won’t be returning and the stress you have to go through to get tickets, have all conspired against Glastonbury and an increasingly out of touch Michael Eavis.
I think that this years failure for tickets is due to Jay Z is rubbish..!! i for one dont party at Glasto every year for the line ups..!! Yes its an advantage for great bands being there but Glasto is all about the experience.!!
You could party at Glasto from the Wednesday to Sunday without seeing any bands whats so ever and still have a fantstic experience..!!
Yes the mud is a pain to put up with but who cares??? If you are willing to sleep in a tent for half a week probably not even having a shower!! If you are willing to do that then sloppy mud and rain is no problem..!!
With all the previous mud and weather but still 100,000 tickets have still been sold then those people are true glastonbury warriors!! so for you 100,000 fans out there..!! I for one will see you soon, and know it will be a fantastic time..!!!
YEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAA..!!!
