What version of Grand Theft Auto IV will win: Xbox 360 or Sony PS3?

March 31, 2008 | Filed under Game Video & Trailers, Gaming, Sony Playstation 3, Xbox 360

I am not trying to start yet another console war, while on Gametrailers I come across bonus round in which the guests Michael Pachter, Pete Wanat and Chris Morell and covers the topic, What version of GTA IV will win: Xbox 360 or Sony PS3.

If you are an Xbox 360 owner, then I understand that you will say Xbox version all the way, however looking at some of the facts the Sony PlayStation version of GTA4 will include PlayStation Home support. This could be a big boost for the PS3 version.

However it looks as though the Xbox 360 will receive their downloadable content before the PS3 gets theirs.

Well the 360 will see more sales of GTA 4 because it has a bigger install base. That could last a good year or 2 or until the next version.

Which company will sell more consoles for people to play GTA4, Sony or Microsoft?

Well GTA 4 will be massive, it WILL sell consoles, everyone knows that but who will buy them? Some say all the PS2 owners are waiting and that they only know GTA as a PS brand name, this I’m not sure of.

These consoles are expensive, the 360 Arcade pack is perfect for a lot of people, it will play GTA 4 but you cannot go online with it, who cares, hardly anyone went online with the PS2.

So a cheaper console(360 Arcade) v an expensive console (PS3, mainly because of Blu-Ray).

Also you have to counter in future games or NOW games i.e Gran Turismo. Well when I finish GTA 4 what else can I play?

    who knows

In the US the 360 version will initially sell more but worldwide the PS3 version will dominate. Over the next few years the PS3 version will sell far more than the 360 one because the PS3 will eventually have a much bigger install base and this is a game that will still sell for years to come.

360 version has exclusive content. 3 months after realease, 360 will have 3 bonus episodes for download. This is an extra 20 hours of GTA that PS3 will not have.

Wow really biased article. Of course the xbox arcade can go online. Both will sell really well.
I doubt gran turismo coming out in 7 months is going to effect sales.

I own both systems, and I’ll probably go with the 360 version because the controllers are just much better for long periods of time. The PS3 controllers must be made for little kids or Japanese gamers because they just aren’t comfortable in my hands (which are big but not freakish or anything :)

I will change my mind in a heartbeat if the comparisons come out showing a better frame rate or significantly better load times on the PS3.

support for playstation home. it means that achivement trophies and other things like items for home that is what it means and he said sony version of gta4 will include SUPPORT for playstation home

360 version, it has exclusive content the sony people wont get! Not to mention the 360 is THE gamers machine, while the ps3 is a I watch movies, and play some times machine.

100 plus hours of game play. Why would you spend money for more content. By the time the content comes out people will be ready for the next best thing like metal gear solid 4. 100 hours is more then enough game play. I bet you, very few 360 owners will pay for that extra content…

M$, in my opinion wasted (50 million) on that extra content… 100 plus regular game hours + 10,000 online hours. I think the hours already speak for themselfs.

    Really think about it.

It’s two consoles with the same game so whats the fuss all about? It’s the SAME game just diffrent controls and PS3 home and 360s extra downloads

  21. Jin on April 3rd, 2008 1:48 pm

I think it’s quite obvious that PS3 owners will buy the PS3 version, 360 owners will buy the 360 version, owners of both systems will predominantly buy the 360 version for the extra content and those who don’t own a current gen console will have mostly made there minds up already as to which one to buy but i’m sure there will be plenty of fanboys who claim to have both systems and argue as to why one version or other will suck.

As for me i’m not even going to tell you which version i’m getting because at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter to anyone but the fanboys who can flame themselves all day, i’m not interested.

Well I have the PS3 so I’m not going to buy the 360 version…. However I purchased my ps3 in anticipation about 2-3 weeks ago with FULL knowledge of the DLC, sure 10 hours is great, i’m gonna have to pay for it, prolly like $20, but erm ok… Least its not as bad as prologue.

My issue really is I really don’t care that much… Sounds odd, but I expect the game will take care of me for a looooooong time (I put over 80 hours into vice city - kinda got bored with SA tho) so sure, ill put the game down and then a few months after the DLC release and sony store gets it ill just purchase it then (presuming we get the same content), then it will be fresh again.

    @ Daggre
I’m oddly totally the opposite! I don’t have small hands, but because of my days with my PS2 the pad(ps3) feels like second nature to me. I jsut can’t gel with the 360 pad, which is why i picked the ps3 over the 360 (RROD weighed in a bit too).

I think the real thing to watch here is which system flies off the shelves because of it.

So you and Ivan both visit multiple sites and he likes to post. Whats your point?
