Social Network of Choice
There are thousands of social networks online but only a few attract all the people who join these communities and the top three are MySpace, Facebook and Bebo.

Where do you go: MySpace, Facebook, Bebo or another?

Robert Colvile from the Telegraph posted an interesting article about how online social networks are “split along class lines” and the choice that you make reveals a lot about you. It is true MySpace, Bebo and Facebook are very different and attract different people. MySpace is the major name in social networking but over time this site has become much more spammy and sites like Facebook work because it’s profiles are much more simple.

In the end you will go where your friends are, if they stop using one social network you will move on. It’s really all about people and you will go where your people are.

What’s your favorite social network?

This question will have many more answers in the near future. Now MySpace and Facebook have woken us up to social networks, I predict the next wave is smaller, more niche social networks that will bring you closer to special interests, such as sports or business networking. Single Sign On technology provided by things like OpenID will make it easier for us to log onto each of them without needing to carry around separate IDs.

The big mainstream social networks will still exist, but we’ll get more value as individuals from the smaller specialist sites. And as it is easier for advertisers to get closer to their target markets that way too, so the money will follow.

  2. As both a facebook and myspace member I dislike the increasing amount of ads on myspace and the annoying apps on facebook.

Recently it was reported that both these social networks experienced a decline in Feb. Whether it’s because Rupoert Murdoch wishes to fill every myspace profile with ads or facebook users delight in spamming everyone with applications - I dont know.

However what I do know is that the site I’m creating at buzz.org.au gets a lot of positive feedback as it’s ad-free and not for profit.

So the more ads and apps appear on the majoy social networks, the more the niche sites like buzz.org.au will grow…

Again as a user of both,

At first my space had the attraction of customization but this soon wore thing, as people started using all the glitter effect templates, i feel this is still the attraction to the younger user, Either way they will still grow for one simple reason, Im talking about it now when i should be working, As most people reading this will have either Myspace or facebook open. when reali they should be hard at work, Everyone likes a distraction from work!

I am another myspace and facebook user. Well, another social network is Friendster, which is more popular among Asians. Honestly, i don’t even know those people added as my friends in myspace, just blindly adding, while fhere are a lot of apps spamming my facebook. I have facebook because it’s trendy, everyone talks about facebook and it seems like you’re outdated if you don’t have one. But i think the real social network that helps me to stay in touch with all my buddies is Friendster. Well, there is another football networking - footbo.com, much smaller and niche social network.
