Corinne Bailey Rae’s husband died from a suspected drug overdose

An inquest has heard that Corinne Bailey Rae’s husband Jason died from a suspected drug overdose.

Jason Rae who was the saxophonist for the eight-piece funk band The Haggis Horns, was found dead in a flat in the Hyde Park area of Leeds last weekend.

Leeds Coroner’s Court was told that a pathologist had formed the “preliminary conclusion” that the fatality was caused by a drug overdose.

An initial post-mortem was inconclusive and West Yorkshire Police are now waiting for results from a toxicology test.

The inquest was adjourned and Rae’s body was released to his family for burial
