Play games online of offline
In the last 4 weeks I have never once played a game offline, 99% of my time has been playing COD4 online as its been great working up the ranks, but this week things changed for the first time in a month.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is a great game in single player (while I am sure it will get lots of gaming time online and in co-op), the game is very different to COD4 as I said in the comparison post yesterday but the realistic feel and single player game has made me start to play solo once again.

Sony PS3 and Xbox 360 users, do you play games online or offline more?

This got me thinking how much other gamers play online compared to offline/single player, I guess it depends what games we are talking about but still for me to play only online for a month is something…Am I the only one?

Actually I do have a fiber internet connection that I use with my AppleTV and it streams pretty freaking fast. HD movies are great on it. I also use it for bittorrent, skype and as a web server. Speed is not the problem. I just don’t like online games all that much. To me, a good single player experience is far superior.

There are a number of reasons for slow down when you play games. Playing games takes a ton of bandwidth so it could be a number of things. It could be your router, NAT selection or even just having your computer online when you try to play a game. If you have cable internet then it could be the neighborhood your in since everyone on your street shares the conneection ( if you have cable ). There are alot of stupid things that can be a problem.

PS3 or 360. New games are single player offline until I flip them on Normal and/or Hard difficultly settings, then I’m online with the game and rarely play offline after that.

I have all three systems and i play about 50% of the time online, i always use the 360 online, Live beats PSN hands down as long as you don’t mind paying a small fee. The Wii gets some action when i have some mates round and the Ps3 has been mostly used to play Blu-ray rentals since i finished Resistence and Drakes but should get some use when Final Fantasy is released.

    i have the 360 and ps3. i play online with the 360
at min 2 hours a day. i only have ut3 for the ps3 and very rarly see any one with mics. so i dont bother playing the ps3 much. i gues i will have to
wait till later this year when a another good game comes out. and try it again

Online all the time, thats why I got a 360! You get what you pay for, and Xbox live is the best online setup you can play on. There is no such thing as a free lunch. “cough” sony

really, tell me how much more are you getting from M$ that Sony isn’t providing. Their’s nothin wrong with the PSN. What are you really paying 50-60$ a year for the rest of yo life anyway, tell me forreal tell me. Last I herd home is free, and you’ll be able to do 5 times as many thing’s you can do with “Live”.

Really tell me what can you do with acheviment points. Nothing. you can’t trade yo points in for cool stuff. So whats the real point in having acheviment points.. I rather have a trophy like system that home will provide, were people from my clan can see what I been playing and what hardest level I’d completed the game on. If M$$$$$$$ came out with a xbox 720 next year you’d probaly buy it. what’s the point in even buying something like that every 3 to 4 years when you could get something reliable for the future, that would last 8 to 10 years. Hoping they want abandond the 360. I hope 720 “Live” sevice doesn’t cost you anything.

You already paying for the internet why do you have to pay for something that you are paying for already. why buy a 360 when PC games are the same thing. I’ll buy a USB xbox 360 controller for the PC if I want to play 360 games.

Hey think about it, then let me know… Why

    @DJ DaveLee

Stop being such a fanboy, if PSN is good enough for you then good, enjoy it but i have all three systems and you can’t tell me that PSN is anywhere near as good as Live.

“Really tell me what can you do with acheviment points. Nothing.”

Then you complain about achievement points (check your spelling) but go on to say how good the trophy system will be! can you spend a trophy icon on “cool stuff”?.

You can’t play Virtua Fighter, Virtua Tennis and some other games on PSN because Sony are leaving it to the developers to run their own servers, that’s why so many games are problematic on PSN.

Both systems have their own merits that’s why i have both but PSN is not one of the PS3’s strong points unless you value a free but vastly inferior service over a small fee for a service that works.

There are enough good thing about PS3 for people to enjoy but papering over the flaws is the act of fanboyism and serves nobody.
