Jerry Seinfeld’s 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo S up for sale for $225,000
A 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo S has gone up for sale with a huge selling price of $225,000. You might wonder why the German car is so expensive; well there are a couple of reasons. One is that this is the first of a 345 run and secondly the car belonged to comedian Jerry Seinfeld.

This 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo S is the only one of the 345 painted in this shade of blue, and there is only 8,040 miles on the odometer. The ordinary book value for this car would only be $82,000, but it is the celebrity status that has bumped the selling price up.

Celebrity status has very little to do with price of this car.

I posted this article originally at http://993c4s.com/?p=236 It was then picked up the the German Car Blog and then by Autoblog (which based on your comments on book value looks like where you got it from).

Porsche 993 Turbo S models are probably one of the most collectible Porsches on today’s market. The fact that this is potentially the first one of the production line and the first imported into the US plays a major role in pricing. Combine those two factors with the unique color (it’s not the only one, there is at least one other), one-of-a-kind factory options and low miles and that gives you the pricing factor.

You everyday run of the mill 993 Turbo S would sell in the $135k to $150k range. Book value plays no part.

I agree with 993C4S, however, any serious collector will tell you the “provenance” greatly increases the value and desirability of any collectable auto (any other things for that matter). Although I respect Jerry Seinfeld as a comedian and a collector, I think thre’d be greater value if the car had been owned by Dan Gurney, Brian Redman, Derek Bell or Hurley Haywood…

This is rediculous. I have raced all over the world and see many 911 turbo “S” cars and this price is totally out of realistic guidelines. We have buttered good old Jerrys bread for years and made it possible for celebs like him to have a vast car collection. His over pricing his vehicles is a slap in the face. Go back to dating 18 year old girls jerry boy. Your celeb status or net worth is not a reason to gauge people. Folks like me with a large net worth ($$$$!!) are going to pass on these cars.
