Xbox 360 owner move to Sony PS3
With prices of the Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 being very close, currently the Playstation 3 is known to have the much better hardware but not the better choice of games.

What would make an Xbox 360 owner move to Sony PS3?

For thousands of people world-wide the answer was simply “RROD”, the hardware was so unreliable that many 360 owners went and brought a PS3 for better hardware and less games (in the hope for more in time).

Now the sides are even:
The Xbox 360’s hardware seems to be much more reliable now with hardly any reports of RROD, so it seems Microsoft have fixed this issue.

The Sony PS3 has not only won the High Definition movie war, but 2008 will see them increase the games collection massively, while it will still not be as good as the Xbox 360 in games collection, it will have more games than you have time to play.

The Xbox 360 has more gamers, so what would make an Xbox 360 owner move to Sony PS3?

as far as getting a blu ray player is concerned, the ps3 is definatly one of the better ones available. Its upgradeable and will be updated to blu ray 2.0 shortly. Its by far the most value for money for a blu ray player.

    @ socrateos

as for ps3 expanding the market i dont understand how you can say they are expanding the market that is different to the xbox with expection of the blu ray player of course. the blu ray player inclusion was obviously to win the format war, much as ps2 helped dvd although that realy didnt need any help.

still though i prefer my 360 for games at the moment. Am currently plaing through lost oddyssey which is really good. thats another exclusive btw

“the console has one main processor that runs on 3.2ghz with 7 helpers which i consider as threads”

actually it’s not 7 helpers it’s 6 helpers 1 left over to fix all the machines latencey, i think the xbox360’s 3 cores cpu is a better cpu then the water down version cell cpu in the ps3.

  3. dj sammy says:

thank you verry much sheppard for clearing this up because the ppl who have bought the ps3 think it has 8 cores running at 3.2ghz each and sony lied about it SO ALL OF YOU FAN BOYS HEARD THE MAN UR SELF AND ME THE PLAYSTATION 3 HAS ONE MAIN CORE RUNNING AT 3.2GHZ AND 6 THREADS WITH ONE FIXING ALL THE LATENCY….. THE XBOX 360 3 CORES RUNNING AT 3.2GHZ WITH 6 THREADS THERE FOR IT HAS MORE GENERAL PROCESSING POWER

I got a 60GB PLAYSTATION and i had a Xbox 360 Pro i play my PS3 for about 15 hours a day on Resistance: Fall of Man and Warhawk alone in my room which is pretty damn hot and my PS3 doesn’t over heat. When i had my new Xbox 360 pro new chip model i started to play Saints Row when i had about 7 hours of playing time my system shuts off and i got the red light of death. So i now change from Pro to Xbox Elite but i only play for 4 hours top taken precaution. I don’t need to worry if I’m playing my PLAYSTATION 3. Is hard for a PLAYSTATION 3 owner to switch to an Xbox 360 unless they just want to have both… Like Me

well there you go make sure that you have a verry well ventilated area for your xbox and its power brick. Open a window in your room while playing any systems or even when you are on your pc all that heat turn’s into moisture in the consoles and any other electrical device that you have in your bedroom and causes them to have a shorter life span then expected. and you go running your mouth about how badly the product is made!

Alton, I completely forgot about Gears of War - that game was amazing!

John Galt, in an ideal world I’d have a top end PC, a 360, a PS3 and Wii but unfortunately the costs, especially for a high end PC are cost prohibitive.

It’s such a shame much of this has degenerated into a fanboy slanging match, I was hoping those days were over but I doubt they ever will be. The article is title ‘What would make an Xbox 360 owner move to Sony PS3?’ not ‘The 360 or PS3, which is better - FIGHT!!’

If it comes down to it and I really had to make a choice, I’d definitely, 100% have to say that the Amiga was way better than the Atari ST.

Xbox 360 is officially the worse gaming console for consumers. I will never buy GTA IV for Xbox 360 it will just blow it up. If you want real next gen exclusives look no further PLAYSTATION 3 MGS4 KILLZONE RESISTANCE 2 And like 100 more just for this year wow Xbox 360 got 5 only. When i play my PS3 i don’t need to worry where i’m playing since is %100 reliable unlike Xbox 360 which has just issues.
Blu-ray is a must unless you want to stay behind that its like Xbox cry babies. I’ll let our new EXCLUSIVE do the talking can’t to play Resistance 2 and MGS4 OMG PS3 RuLeZ GTAIV

  8. Sandman says:

Yes, Let the exclusive title talk! 360 has Gears of War, Halo 3, Supreme Commander(), Mass Effect Trilogy, Bioshock, Too Human Trilogy(the next Diablo2! This is a no brainer!), and Fable 2(This will the game of the Year for 2008, Mark my word for it!!).

Only a moron would by a Game Console just for a video format! I could care less for a Blue-ray. I want to play games! 360 are for HARDCORE GAMERS LIKE ME, other just stay AWAY!

  9. Sean Gaffney says:

Fascinating to see the mentality of some people on here.
As has been pointed out previously the topic is what would make someone move to a PS3 NOT my box is better than your box.
The people (I use the word advisably) on here who can do nothing but deride (those same people can look that word up) the other systems really need to take a long hard look at themselves and find out what their real issues are. Doesn’t Mummy hug you enough ?
What we have are 2 systems with 2 similar but slightly varying appeals. What is so difficult to accept about that fact. Just because you prefer one doesn’t make the other a bad machine. Grow up.
The Xbox has reliability issues and is noisy while the PS3 is pricey and at the moment lacks a decent sized games catelogue.
Who are these people to call others morons for buying a PS3 for the blu-ray. For those who have been asleep for the past year the PS3 has been HEAVILY marketed as a media centre and not a games machine. I even remember that fact being complained about on this forum too. I bought my PS3 because it filss a number of needs. If the xbox has some titles the PS3 doesn’t have I’m not bothered. I am happy playing my blu-ray films, streaming my media from my network media drive AND playing games on it. Were I only a games player then an Xbox would probably have suited me better but I and millions of others are not only gamers.
People accept the differences, shut up with your neanderthalic fanboy posts and accept their are other opinions / requirements than your own or else you will be disappointed your whole life.
Rant over (God that felt good !!)…

  10. mark d says:

    wow this got derailed
I got a PS3 (in Jan 07) because the media center capabilities did really interest me and I owned a PS2 already. (NTSC 60GB FTW!!) I picked up a Wii in August but I haven’t really played it much. (I’m hooked on Warhawk right now) As to why I’ve never gotten a 360, well, none of the games for it really interested me much and all my media center needs are happily met by my PS3. Also, I have not seen anything that convinces me that Live’s online multi-player gaming is significantly better than the PSN’s to warrant $50/year for it. (Indeed, PSN–>dedicated servers vs. Live–>P2P, if true, would make the PSN better for multi-player gaming.) As for the features (like custom soundtracks, better online store) I’m willing to wait for the PS3 to catch up. So basically, I didn’t get a 360 because I’m happy enough with my PS3 that I’m not willing to spend $350 more for another console.
