With prices of the Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 being very close, currently the Playstation 3 is known to have the much better hardware but not the better choice of games.
What would make an Xbox 360 owner move to Sony PS3?
For thousands of people world-wide the answer was simply “RROD”, the hardware was so unreliable that many 360 owners went and brought a PS3 for better hardware and less games (in the hope for more in time).
Now the sides are even:
The Xbox 360’s hardware seems to be much more reliable now with hardly any reports of RROD, so it seems Microsoft have fixed this issue.
The Sony PS3 has not only won the High Definition movie war, but 2008 will see them increase the games collection massively, while it will still not be as good as the Xbox 360 in games collection, it will have more games than you have time to play.
The Xbox 360 has more gamers, so what would make an Xbox 360 owner move to Sony PS3?

I now have all 3 of the next gen consoles. If you call the Wii a next gen console! So what is my gaming pleasure you ask and why did I get a PS3 when I already had a 369 and a Wii. First I will start with the Wii…..it was purchased for my son of 5 years old. The game content just made sense for him. I did play it for or five games that interested me and well. They were not only inferior but they were not enough to keep me interested in it. With the exception of Darts, I have found very fun; I do not play the Wii without my son. Now I have an interest in real darts and the game is nothing like the real thing. Anyway I digress. Why did I get a PS3 when I already had a 360? I was one of the many that had issues with the quality of the hardware. I actually had to return my first two systems. The unit I have now works without issue but the fan unit is amazingly loud. My PC ha3 an amazing fan system made of copper(after market) and is about half the noise output and 3 times the processing power. Beyond the quality I purchased the PS3 for the technology. The Blu-ray drive is a major plus if you want to showcase your HDTV. Now I could have purchased an HD DVD player for the same results to showcase my HDTV but I was smart enough to know that studio support would be the key to a format winning the war and so the PS3 just made sense. As we know Toshiba does own any content. Sony has friends in Hollywood and in the end that was the deciding factor (studio support could have been Sonys influence over its peers but that is unclear). But did I buy the PS3 for the future of console gaming I think that is the question many would like to know. The answer is yes. I want to play GTA on the PS3 the PS2 made this franchise and I feel some level of allegiance to Sony for making the game great. They not only provided the platform (PS2) but more then that the 50+ million systems at the time to ensure this game was successful. At this point the variety of gaming available now, the games to come, and the potential of the system is worth every penny. You may as well invest in the future of gaming and have a console that will last for the next 5+ years. MS will kill the 360 with a new console in 2011 and you will need to start all over. I figure I should start now and enjoy the long life I enjoyed with the PS2.

Because developers are now learning how to program better for the PS3 to utilize its potential, the PS3 has free online gaming, can stream video to its handheld buddy PSP, and blu-ray has smashed the competition which gives sony the home entertainment win hands down. Not much talk is about the wii, because we all know the wii is in no comparison to either of these systems. It’s just the cheaper way to go if you just want to play a game, not the way to go if you want a real gaming experience. Much like it’s becoming for the xbox 360, so xbox 360 owners will begin to see that and want to play beyond; thus, purchase a PS3 entertainment system.

I own a 360 but if I get a PS3 it won’t be because I’m moving over but in addition to my existing console. At present the PS3 is still overpriced, I don’t want Blu-Ray drive and there isn’t one game I want that isn’t available on the 360. I will get a PS3 but only when the price drops, the machine is smaller and lighter, there’s a decent range of game exclusives and when it comes with a dual shock controller. I’m not here to line Sony’s pockets and support Blu-Ray until there’s something in it for me.
4 buncey // Mar 25, 2008 at 11:12 am
i’m another fortunate person to own all 3 systems. Why do people bash the wii saying its not next gen?
surely it’s the different experience that makes t truly next gen! granted that the fact it looks so blurry after xbox 360 and ps3, but mario galaxy is simply stunning and so is ssbb.
the ps3 is amazing for a media centre. i stream my music through the ps3 cos’ i find media center on the 360 tedious to use and the blu ray player is really good. blu rays at £20 a go are too expensive though so its worth just renting.
The Xbox 360 is where the majority of my gaming is don as the ps3 with exception of the multi platform releases has no games that i want to play. i did buy heavenly sword and that was okay. Thr controller on the ps3 after using the 360 is very uncomfortable.
since owning a 360 on launch day i have unfortunatly experienced the rrod but only once and it seemed like forever before i got my console back.
The 360 is also loud but when you playing with a kick ass surround system and put the volume on to a normal level then you rely cant hear it. The poeple complaining of the noise must be playing on mute or something.
games wise the 360 wins hands down, i own 20+ games for the system and paying for live is no problem, its a fiver a month. I soend more on newspapers a month than that. The ps3 online at the moment for games is okay, the online store is crap and nothing like xbl marketplace which is a joy to use and so much quicker. putting the ps3 store on a web page like it is just makes it tedious and makes it look cheap and nasty when it shouldnt be. overall i cant see my attention be changed from the 360 to the ps3 untl final fantasy comes out. Ive never realy cared for mgs and i dont hold any hope for killzone 2 cos if any of you played the first one, then youd know why

I totally agree with buncey, I think gamers want the best experience and while the Wii has poor graphics it still offers great gaming. There will always be fanboys but most gamers I know own, or want to own, all three consoles but the PS3 will gather dust for the moment. The 360 is damn loud though, those fans drive me nuts.
6 Ivan_PSP // Mar 25, 2008 at 12:04 pm
Is too risky to get a Xbox 360 it has a massive %33 failure rate nothing that next gen still uses DVD Xbox Live is just lag too much and 2many cheaters. PLAYSTATION 3 is the only must have gaming system is the only true next gen super high tech machine.

I honestly cant say my PS3 purchase has been a happy one and Im selling it and considering an Xbox 360.
The PS3 games are pretty average in quality, the range of selection is poor and they are way too expensive. The graphics is not as good as claimed - It’s certainly not as good as my PC and I can’t see the difference between Xbox 360 & PS3 - they are on par. The Xbox 360 versions are more available and on sale with a better price. Thats why I am making the switch. Pricing of games is important to me and I want a better selection. Xbox 360 also has better exclusives although there is more overlap with my PC.

I was at bestbuy debating weather or not I should be purchasing the 360 or the ps3. I chose to get the 360 reason being its purely made for gaming and has great proccessing power as well as great online content it directs you were you need to go without any hastle’s and you can even purchase high def movies online which is great. reason why i didnt not choose to purchase the ps3 is because I do not watch bluray dvd’s and I do not want to spend 30 dollars buying movies. the reason why i went to the 360 its purely made for gaming i dont even use it for dvd purposes if i want to watch a dvd then i head on to my stand alone dvd player which i have purchase for that reason. the xbox stricly stand for games and online play.. THANK YOU MICROSOFT FOR MAKING A GAMING CONSOLE NOT A CONSOLE FOR FUTURISTIC USELESS MOVIES WHICH DIGS 60 DOLLLARS OUT OF YOUR POCKETS FOR A MOVIE INSTEAD OF A DECEANT GAME!

the wii is damn cool, super smash bros aint out over here in the uk for ages yet but my friend has a hacked wii so i go round here to play it. If only they will stop using those damn friend codes. lol

Microsoft dragging it’s feet on the blu-ray add-on is just going to cause more and more people to pick up a ps3. I’m thinking about it myself. Xbox Live downloadable media is good for those who have the internet and don’t mind buying hard drives every few months. For me, I want removeable media in disk shape. It’s just what I want. The longer Microsoft goes without provding it to me the more likely I am to purchase a cheap blu-ray player (the ps3), but it won’t be because of games.
14 Sean Gaffney // Mar 25, 2008 at 2:36 pm
I have a Wii and a PS3. I only play the Wii with my kids. I never play it alone anymore. I just don’t find the games are interesting enough to keep my attention. I bought the PS3 for gaming but ALSO for it’s multimedia capabilities. I do watch blu-ray films on it. I use it to upscale my DVDs and stream music, photos and movies from my network media drive to it.
360 owners are gamers so until there is a decent enough catelogue of games they won’t come across. The 360 has a significant headstart on the PS3 but the games will come. The firmware updates Sony send out and the interaction with the PSP are also selling points FOR ME.
15 Sean Gaffney // Mar 25, 2008 at 2:55 pm
@Chopper
See my post. The PS3 is still, relatively, new. Of course the Xbox has a wider collection of games already available BUT, and this is the point, more games will come and if you read what the developers are saying the graphics will improve as they learn how to programme better for it. To switch now wouldn’t make a lot of sense. Give it time or if you really want more games now buy the Xbox additionally but keep the PS3. You’ll find you may switch back once it picks up speed.
16 Sean Gaffney // Mar 25, 2008 at 2:59 pm
@ DJ Sammy
Thank you Microsoft for rushing out the Xbox to grab the market regardless of the build quality and without any consideration to how the console will perform in the future. You do realise you don’t HAVE to buy Bluray films if you don’t want to ?
If someone wants a pure gaming console then I agree the Xbox is, at the moment, a better option (now the RROD seems to have stabalised) but if you want a more versatile machine then go for the PS3. It’s a matter of choice. Of course Fanboys can’t abide choice. Much better to find fault with the opposition that accept it MAY have some other qualities thier machine of choice doesn’t…
17 Slippy Sloppy // Mar 25, 2008 at 3:31 pm
“You do realise you don’t HAVE to buy Bluray films if you don’t want to ?” Of course but if you buy a PS3 you have to buy a Blu-Ray player, which many people don’t want.
Soon enough the PS3 will be affordable but at the moment they’re not tapping into the mainstream, just gamers. I can’t argue the 360 is doing any better at targeting non-gamers in the way the PS2 and the Wii have but at least they are affordable options. FYO, in the UK the PS3 costs $600.
18 sheppard // Mar 25, 2008 at 3:38 pm
No reason @ all, but the reason i would move from ps3 to 360 is better and more games.
19 Sean Gaffney // Mar 25, 2008 at 3:51 pm
@sloppy
Which is my point. If you’re not interested in blu ray or the additional media capabilities then you wouldn’t buy a PS3. You’d opt for an Xbox. If you want more than just games you’d go for the PS3.
I wanted more than just games and use my blu-ray / DVD upscaling player as much as I play games. It suited MY choice but wouldn’t suit everyone’s.
20 Slippy Sloppy // Mar 25, 2008 at 4:01 pm
When the PS3 comes down to £200 ($400) in the UK then they’ll start to fly off the shelves.
Can I ask what the Blu-Ray player is like in the PS3? I honestly don’t know anyone who has a PS3 and I guess I assumed it would be the equivalent of the DVD player in my PS2 - adequate but nowhere near as good as a standalone player.
21 Sean Gaffney // Mar 25, 2008 at 4:06 pm
@slippy sloppy
It’s actually very good, as is the upscaling of the DVDs. Obviously it won’t be to the standard of a high-end player but it goes beyond adequate.
My situation is reversed. I know a couple of people with Xbox’s but the majority have the PS3.
I think we’re a long way off that price point. They’re still 400€ in Germany (approx £310)
22 Sean Gaffney // Mar 25, 2008 at 4:08 pm
Which games are exclusive to the Xbox ? I know Halo and PG4 but can some one let me know which others ? I’m not a fanboy and if there’s some decent games I’m missing out on then I’d consider adding an Xbox to my collection
23 Slippy Sloppy // Mar 25, 2008 at 4:21 pm
Sean Gaffney - Thanks for heads up on the PS3 BR player. Seems like our situations are reversed.
Aside form Halo 3 and PG4 the exclusives I’ve really been impressed with have been Mass Effect, Bioshock and Viva Pinata. Otherwise it’s pretty equal and if you already have one machine, until they’re both so cheap it’s hard to refuse a purchase, there’s little point in getting the other.
I’ve come so close, so many times to getting a PS3 but owning a 360 I just can’t justify it. I suspect the same is true for PS3 owners.
24 John Galt // Mar 25, 2008 at 5:49 pm
Why would anyone get a 360 is a huge puzzle. That system is only good for mindless, cookie-cutter FPSs and 99% of games that are on 360, are also being released on PC. The smartest choice is PS3, and a PC. That way you can enjoy all the games out there. PS3 exclusives, are truly exclusive to PS3. Try playing EYE OF JUDGMENT on anything but PS3, or Uncharted for that matter.
25 Ivan_PSP // Mar 25, 2008 at 6:07 pm
Crappy over hyped exclusives for Xbox 360. If you want the most and best and the highest HD quality games you will definitely need a PLAYSTATION 3. Microsoft can’t offer quality only a junk console i will never in a life time switch to crapbox 180 xbotx xgay Xbox 360 is trash.

Slippy Sloppy One game that was really good for the 360 and was an exclusive was Gears of War and in November theyare coming out with the second one. I have had one bad system which was broken out of the box but Microsoft had it back to me in a week and a half. That system never broke and I gave it to a friend before I went overseas this year. I then bought a elite which is much better anyway with less noise and no frezing.
I love the 360 online play I doubt Sony’s while free won’t be able to match it. This is why I believe this. Sony relies on the company that makes the game to set up a server for it. Xbox sets up all the servers for Live and I’ve been playing on xbox live ever since it was in Beta. Which is why the communication across games is smooth and the marketplace is easy to use.

@ EVERYBODY
THERE ALOT OF XBOX 360 HATERS AND PLAYSTATION 3 HATERS OUT THERE.. LETS GET THIS CLEAR AND OUT THE WAY FOR ALL OF YOU THAT DONT UNDERSTAND.
I do not feel that microsoft rushed the xbox 360 in any way they have done a proper job at building the console with its great online content. THE reason why it has got the 33% failure rate of the xbox is because the ppl who have purchased it put it in a cubbord and let the machine run for over 10 hours of game play in an enclosed area . I have purchased my 360 and let it run for over 10 hours of game play in a verry well ventilated area in my home theatre shelf and not once i got the red ring of light.
as for the ps3 its a great piece of technology slapped together and out on the market. most ppl dont even use 60% of what it has got. the console has one main processor that runs on 3.2ghz with 7 helpers which i consider as threads. 1 left over to fix all the machines latencey. as for the xbox it runs on 3 3.2ghz seperate cores with 2 threads on each core. the only way sony made the market is to ofcourse put in a bluray player with 45 extra memory slots which i doubt that anybody would use. the games on the 360 have more texture and characteristics to it than the ps3. the ps3 is and awsome machine the only upside i see to it is the bluray and nothing else.. i rather buy me a bluray player then to be stuck with a machine that game developers are confused about how to run their games on it!
ivan_psp
obviously your a hater u stick with ur oversized bluray player and enjoy the extra memory sticks
Sean Gaffney
if you do own a 360 i suggest you put it in a verry well ventilated area please do understand its a verry powerfull machine and has blown the ps3 out the bluwaters
30 socrateos // Mar 25, 2008 at 7:39 pm
I do not own 360, so I may not be a guy to answer this question posed for 360 owners. But I can give my reason why I am getting PS3, not 360.
The answer is simple: Blu-ray.
I am not a gamer. I am buying PS3 primarily as an HD player, but I am also going to try out a few games first time in my life.
Like Wii but in a very different way, PS3 is expanding the gaming population to reach out people like me who never played a game before but is curious enough to try out a few and perhaps more.
31 buncey // Mar 25, 2008 at 11:57 pm
@ Dj Sammy V
as far as getting a blu ray player is concerned, the ps3 is definatly one of the better ones available. Its upgradeable and will be updated to blu ray 2.0 shortly. Its by far the most value for money for a blu ray player.
@ socrateos
as for ps3 expanding the market i dont understand how you can say they are expanding the market that is different to the xbox with expection of the blu ray player of course. the blu ray player inclusion was obviously to win the format war, much as ps2 helped dvd although that realy didnt need any help.
still though i prefer my 360 for games at the moment. Am currently plaing through lost oddyssey which is really good. thats another exclusive btw
32 sheppard // Mar 26, 2008 at 12:53 am
“the console has one main processor that runs on 3.2ghz with 7 helpers which i consider as threads”
actually it’s not 7 helpers it’s 6 helpers 1 left over to fix all the machines latencey, i think the xbox360’s 3 cores cpu is a better cpu then the water down version cell cpu in the ps3.
33 dj sammy // Mar 26, 2008 at 1:09 am
thank you verry much sheppard for clearing this up because the ppl who have bought the ps3 think it has 8 cores running at 3.2ghz each and sony lied about it SO ALL OF YOU FAN BOYS HEARD THE MAN UR SELF AND ME THE PLAYSTATION 3 HAS ONE MAIN CORE RUNNING AT 3.2GHZ AND 6 THREADS WITH ONE FIXING ALL THE LATENCY….. THE XBOX 360 3 CORES RUNNING AT 3.2GHZ WITH 6 THREADS THERE FOR IT HAS MORE GENERAL PROCESSING POWER
34 Ivan_PSP // Mar 26, 2008 at 4:47 am
I got a 60GB PLAYSTATION and i had a Xbox 360 Pro i play my PS3 for about 15 hours a day on Resistance: Fall of Man and Warhawk alone in my room which is pretty damn hot and my PS3 doesn’t over heat. When i had my new Xbox 360 pro new chip model i started to play Saints Row when i had about 7 hours of playing time my system shuts off and i got the red light of death. So i now change from Pro to Xbox Elite but i only play for 4 hours top taken precaution. I don’t need to worry if I’m playing my PLAYSTATION 3. Is hard for a PLAYSTATION 3 owner to switch to an Xbox 360 unless they just want to have both… Like Me
35 dj sammy // Mar 26, 2008 at 10:17 am
Ivan_psp
well there you go make sure that you have a verry well ventilated area for your xbox and its power brick. Open a window in your room while playing any systems or even when you are on your pc all that heat turn’s into moisture in the consoles and any other electrical device that you have in your bedroom and causes them to have a shorter life span then expected. and you go running your mouth about how badly the product is made!
36 Slippy Sloppy // Mar 26, 2008 at 10:35 am
Alton, I completely forgot about Gears of War - that game was amazing!
John Galt, in an ideal world I’d have a top end PC, a 360, a PS3 and Wii but unfortunately the costs, especially for a high end PC are cost prohibitive.
It’s such a shame much of this has degenerated into a fanboy slanging match, I was hoping those days were over but I doubt they ever will be. The article is title ‘What would make an Xbox 360 owner move to Sony PS3?’ not ‘The 360 or PS3, which is better - FIGHT!!’
If it comes down to it and I really had to make a choice, I’d definitely, 100% have to say that the Amiga was way better than the Atari ST.
37 Ivan_PSP // Mar 26, 2008 at 11:57 am
Xbox 360 is officially the worse gaming console for consumers. I will never buy GTA IV for Xbox 360 it will just blow it up. If you want real next gen exclusives look no further PLAYSTATION 3 MGS4 KILLZONE RESISTANCE 2 And like 100 more just for this year wow Xbox 360 got 5 only. When i play my PS3 i don’t need to worry where i’m playing since is %100 reliable unlike Xbox 360 which has just issues.
Blu-ray is a must unless you want to stay behind that its like Xbox cry babies. I’ll let our new EXCLUSIVE do the talking can’t to play Resistance 2 and MGS4 OMG PS3 RuLeZ GTAIV
38 Sandman // Mar 26, 2008 at 12:46 pm
Yes, Let the exclusive title talk! 360 has Gears of War, Halo 3, Supreme Commander(), Mass Effect Trilogy, Bioshock, Too Human Trilogy(the next Diablo2! This is a no brainer!), and Fable 2(This will the game of the Year for 2008, Mark my word for it!!).
Only a moron would by a Game Console just for a video format! I could care less for a Blue-ray. I want to play games! 360 are for HARDCORE GAMERS LIKE ME, other just stay AWAY!
39 Sean Gaffney // Mar 26, 2008 at 1:11 pm
Fascinating to see the mentality of some people on here.
As has been pointed out previously the topic is what would make someone move to a PS3 NOT my box is better than your box.
The people (I use the word advisably) on here who can do nothing but deride (those same people can look that word up) the other systems really need to take a long hard look at themselves and find out what their real issues are. Doesn’t Mummy hug you enough ?
What we have are 2 systems with 2 similar but slightly varying appeals. What is so difficult to accept about that fact. Just because you prefer one doesn’t make the other a bad machine. Grow up.
The Xbox has reliability issues and is noisy while the PS3 is pricey and at the moment lacks a decent sized games catelogue.
Who are these people to call others morons for buying a PS3 for the blu-ray. For those who have been asleep for the past year the PS3 has been HEAVILY marketed as a media centre and not a games machine. I even remember that fact being complained about on this forum too. I bought my PS3 because it filss a number of needs. If the xbox has some titles the PS3 doesn’t have I’m not bothered. I am happy playing my blu-ray films, streaming my media from my network media drive AND playing games on it. Were I only a games player then an Xbox would probably have suited me better but I and millions of others are not only gamers.
People accept the differences, shut up with your neanderthalic fanboy posts and accept their are other opinions / requirements than your own or else you will be disappointed your whole life.
Rant over (God that felt good !!)…
40 mark d // Mar 26, 2008 at 2:00 pm
wow this got derailed
I got a PS3 (in Jan 07) because the media center capabilities did really interest me and I owned a PS2 already. (NTSC 60GB FTW!!) I picked up a Wii in August but I haven’t really played it much. (I’m hooked on Warhawk right now) As to why I’ve never gotten a 360, well, none of the games for it really interested me much and all my media center needs are happily met by my PS3. Also, I have not seen anything that convinces me that Live’s online multi-player gaming is significantly better than the PSN’s to warrant $50/year for it. (Indeed, PSN–>dedicated servers vs. Live–>P2P, if true, would make the PSN better for multi-player gaming.) As for the features (like custom soundtracks, better online store) I’m willing to wait for the PS3 to catch up. So basically, I didn’t get a 360 because I’m happy enough with my PS3 that I’m not willing to spend $350 more for another console.
41 Geomancy // Mar 26, 2008 at 10:33 pm
I’m one of the lucky ones who bought a launch-day Xbox 360 that still works. But I bought an 80gb PS3 several weeks ago because I wanted to play PS3/PS2 exclusives like Resistance and Resident Evil 4. After a few weeks, however, I’m gaming almost exclusively on the 360 again. I simply find the 360’s games and online services more compelling. Compared to Xbox Live, the Playstation Network seems like a ghosttown with barely-stocked shelves. So far, moreover, I see no reason to play cross-platform games like RSV2 and GTA4 on the PS3 when I can pad my achievement score on the 360. I’m glad to own a PS3 and its Blu-Ray Player; I look forward to MGS4, Home, and LittleBigPlanet. But until the exclusives get better and Sony develops its own point-reward system, I think the bulk of my gaming will continue to be on the 360.

ATTN SAMMY, SHEPPARD AND ANYONE ELSE CONFUSED. go to HOW STUFF WORKS and read how the ps3 has 8 processors, not one. not threads or helpers as you say. 1 processor manages the others simply directing the workload. sony did not lie about its cell. as stated… The “Processing Element” of the Cell is a 3.2-GHz PowerPC core equipped with 512 KB of L2 cache. The PowerPC core is a type of microprocessor similar to the one you would find running the Apple G5. It’s a powerful processor on its own and could easily run a computer by itself; but in the Cell, the PowerPC core is not the sole processor. Instead, it’s more of a “managing processor.” It delegates processing to the eight other processors on the chip, the Synergistic Processing Elements. opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. stick to the facts.

It wont happen because the 360/PC game world is in the hundreds of millions (thats alot of customers)while the PS3 world is around ten million (still alot but a fraction of the above market) Who cares if the processor is better in the golden getto…I want a new game every two weeks to a month and it will be years before the market will be able to support this 8 core shit. The market may even leap frog over the Sony processor before it goes into full bloom. While blueray is cool its not a deal maker or breaker to 95% of gamers out there as upconverted dvd’s look just fine.
Yes Microsoft can be a shit company but they got the goods with the 360 and the sooner the playstation nation comes to gripps with this fact the better. I may pick up a ps3 for 199 dollars when the next xbox 720 is released to pass the time while the price comes down…thats about it.

im glad IT SOUNDS SIMILAR but the facts are that ps3 contains 8 processors. you xbots have only one halfway valid arguement, that being game library which is about to change in a BIG way this year. hey, dont buy a ps3, why should i care. i bet the xbox 720 will contain a built in blu ray player and some other cool stuff making it similar to ps3 and unfortunately too expensive for you xbots to buy since the ps3 was way too expensive. its gonna be fun to watch from here on out, lol.

@ eddie
the only reason why ppl did not buy the ps3 is because it came out to late on the market as well as it has a small library for game’s, as for the price for both the xbox 360 and the playstation 3 are verry well reasonalble to purchase them. sure ps3 cost’s 100 more but why would anyone go out and buy a system with minimal games out there for it.. I am sure that money is no object when it comes for a great piece of technology. as for the xbox 720 comes out and if it does have a price point of 700 dollars for a console with all the tid bits in it I would buy it at the day of launch without regret because xbox is the way to go for me. i had a ps2 but i moved on to the xbox because i like the way it does not take 20 minutes of my time loading one simple game. the playstation 3 that has the latest technology in it still takes 20 minutes to load one game as were as the 360 takes 10 seconds and your lost in its in depth graphics… so by all this said its just who wants what console and pretty sure that when it comes to money its not a problem…

Personally I was waiting for the PS3 and would never have considered getting a 360. I then received a 360 as a present and was chuffed to bits. Not only that but the PS3 got delayed by a year and my PS2 was beginning to creek. Then came the PS3 launch price £399 ($800), I could build a decent PC for that money. I think Microsoft made a very wise move releasing the console early, despite the RROD which was only sweetened by extending the warranty to 3 years. The questions was ‘What would make an Xbox 360 owner move to Sony PS3?’ and I think the truth for almost all 360 owners is pretty much nothing, why would we? What we may do is buy one when the price is right and use that as well. I can’t be bothered to argue which is more powerful technically because both companies play numbers games.

THE MONEY COMMENT WAS in reply to all the xbots who have been complaining that the ps3 is too expensive although its really a good bargain when all is considered. xbox had few games at its launch so wheres the logic there? as far as loading a game, hey, thats what the hd is there for. all my music gets streamed from my pc so the hds practically empty. criticizing a one time install is nit picking. as to why anyone would buy the ps3… i always knew the games would come, they always do. im a believer in buying the best piece of hardware available, especially with sonys track record. 2007 was a slow year but the times they are a changin.

Enough already.
I have all three systems… I am also on my 4th Xbox 360. Microsoft has done a fabulous job of selling a semi-polished dog turd to the masses. You can say what you want, and I am truly glad for those out there that have had no problems, but the 360 is a poorly designed and engineered POS. Go to the official Xbox/Microsoft forum site… read there what some people have gone through with their systems. It’s rediculous!!! And yet, people continue to purchase them!
Now I am a gamer, pure and simple. It doesn’t matter to me what system it is on particularly… but for a company to ignore what is going on like this is on the far side of criminal.
And I know the fanboys out there are going to MF me for this, but the PS3 is just a better built machine, and the games are their guys. As far as I can tell the days of shitty second hand ports are mostly behind us. RSV2 is a gem! Condemned 2 is a gem! True the exclusives aren’t there… yet. MGS4 is right around the corner, and so is Killzone. I have never had ONE problem with my PS3 or my Wii. That made them worth the money to me.
And never having to send my $400 dollar, less than a year old system in to get repaired just to get another broken one back in the mail that worked for less than 5 minutes, is worth it to me.
Class action law suit anyone?
It’s a damn shame really. Microsoft had a good thing going there for a while… If they would just resolve these hardware failure rates!
They’ve put a LOT of dedicated gamers off… me included.
WAKE UP BILL!!! YOUR LOOSING YOUR CUSTOMERS ONE RROD AT A TIME!!!

JS, you’re such a liar! 4th Xbox360!! Who is the right mind would buy a 4th Xbox360? I have my first Xbox360 and still running now, but I had it repaired to a reliable technician due to a fan problem about a year ago. It was my fault I kept it in a semi-enclosed shelf, probably it overheated and causing a malfunction to its drive, as I was told by the technician and advised me to place the 360 in a well-ventilated area, so I did and not had a problem ever since. The 360 is a powerful machine, it is understandable to give it a good space to breathe. YOU probably don’t have any of that kind of idea whatsoever after four 360s, making you a MORON, or you’re just a PS3 fanboy whose known for being an utter liar.
51 J S // Apr 2, 2008 at 8:50 am
@ Sandman…
And you’re a moron. I’ve only actually paid for one 360 system, not 4… but since they keep breaking on me, and I keep sending them back for a replacement, I am on my fourth. For your intellectual stimulation, and not that it is any of your concern, my systems sit on top of an entertainment center that keeps them well ventilated during use. This is also cleaned every day so as to keep them free af any dust during use.
And good for you, you win a fucking cookie. I’m glad your launch 360 is still running. You are in the lucky what… 1% it seems..? There are so many avid gamers out there that have invested there hard earned money on a 360, only to be met with the RRoD. It seems like such a waste, and an utter betrayal on Microsoft’s part. But your right. You got me… I may be a little biased against the 360, and even somewhat a PS3 fan, but only because it hasn’t given me ANY PROBLEMS WHAT-SO-EVER!
Next time go lock yourself in a semi-enclosed space, and while your at it learn to speak proper english, not engrish. I speak three languages fluently, what’s your excuse?
I’m so sick of being haggled by uneducated teeny-bopping pricks like you when I bring a valid argument to the table.

You’re a moron. No ! You’re a moron ! You’re a moron. No ! You’re a moron ! You’re a moron. No ! You’re a moron ! You’re a moron. No ! You’re a moron ! You’re a moron. No ! You’re a moron ! You’re a moron. No ! You’re a moron ! You’re a moron. No ! You’re a moron ! You’re a moron. No ! You’re a moron ! You’re a moron. No ! You’re a moron ! You’re a moron. No ! You’re a moron ! You’re a moron. No ! You’re a moron ! You’re a moron. No ! You’re a moron !
I come here for such intellectual discussions. Don’t you ?

JS
You said earlier that you’re on your 4th 360, not on your 3rd replacement. Stop making unintellligent statements, making you looked like an utter moron! and Wow, third replacemnt! Like I believe that! Yes, congratulate me and my friends (5 of them) did not have that RROD your saying, coz we take care of the console. You’re probably a jinx or whatever having to send your 360 three times or your probably banging your 360 for not beating the games the 360 is offering.
Congratulations, you know three languages! So, that’s three native speakers can understand you’re a moron!

It’s really sad that many will cut each others toys to prove that theirs are better when specifications on the 2 machine show that PS3 out weighs the 360. Yes I am happy for those 360 hardcore gamers who are stuck with their potential RROD bombs. Just keep it alive by giving it air, mouth to mouth, or just suck on it. This will make all you 1% out of 99%? …that would happily waste all their precious time bringing it back to the store and wait for God, who know how long…Hardcore fans happy. By the time you calculate the expenses so call compare the price of the PS3 then you just wasted more money than the PS3.
Lets put it this way…Xbox 360 is a simple version of a SMALL DESKTOP with internal OS that does all the software loading at the Monkeys level so you can plug in your controller that Microsoft built like the same one you actually buy for your DESKTOP or LAPTOP to play the same game but require you to use the full keyboard…but gives you not 1 but 3 independent processors that actually thinks and processes separately by themselves that does not require any guidance from a main source (Hence the reason the machine goes a RROD). Just think that you invested on a LAPTOP or a DESKTOP already I presume…that I believe you bought the same game or similar to play before X360 came out and play it. Compare it to your Desktop or Laptop, isn’t X360 actually the same. But only one thing different your DESKTOP or LAPTOP only uses a Single or Dual Processor that really works because it was made by a reliable company. That is why Microsoft had their X360 system out a year before PS3 came out. This thing you call X360 is really the next generation DESKTOP that all the computer companies are soon to build for all of us in the world but with a keyboard. Explain also that you need to have your hands also held through the Live menu so you can claim that your HADRCORE GAMING experience is really worth to pay extra that you already pay for your internet access. Calculate that cost on your belt every month. So the question is, are you a monkey or a gamer?
But before you retaliate with your …I am an X360 HARDCORE GAMER comment. Remember that PS2 is still the world leader in the game console not Xbox 360. PS3 will take over the world again but with all the real HARDCORE GAMES. Just remember that all the programmers are leaving Bill Gates world to make better games for YOU KNOW …PS3. It is stated all over the gamer’s world. I don’t need to explain what PS3 really does because you already know. It just sucks to be you Xbox 360 HARDCORE DESKTOP GAMERS. Self denial is really not constructive. Enjoy your more that PS3 game options for now but be aware that your world is LIMITED. Buy all your add-on, exactly what Bill Gates wants you to do. That how he made his BILLIONS with software add-ons. Think about XP, Vista, XBOX360 or your new add-on XBOX720. So the question is, are you a monkey or a gamer?

i bought the xbox originaly to play Halo (coming from the world of PC games)…but as I experimented & discovered the many diverse styles of games out there I switched to the PS3 because it tended to have/focus on the types of games I liked. I don’t care for quantity and as for quality both consoles rule (with a kudos to Wii). that’s all, i never understand all the bashing and fanboy hating (though it’s funny to read i must admit with guilt)
56 talamasca // Apr 4, 2008 at 9:14 am
well made points trich. however some of your points are eronious. you said u were thinking about the future of gaming whn u purchased the PS3. i think a lot of people, including me are of the opinion that the future of gaming is most definetely ONLINE gaming and im sorry but the PS3 falls woefully short. it just doesnt have the experience to go up against microsoft in this division.

What would it take to get a 360 user to switch to ps3? easy Shenmue 3!
58 Uncle Mart // Apr 22, 2008 at 4:01 pm
To answer the question - Nothing at the moment will move me away from the xbox 360.
The main reason why is because I feel that Sony used the UK as source of income to reduce the price over in America. In the UK had to wait longer then anyone else for this unit and when it came out the price was sky high even though in Japan and the US it was being cut in price, we also had to live with a software emulated model whilst other places had the Hardware emulated model. I believe the models being released now are this software type all over the world.
Sony got into the market place because Nintendo messed around for too long with the Nintendo 64 in Europe and Sony jumped in and treated Europe with respect selling the unit cheaper with some good games and with the bugs ironed out.
Now I may sound like a Fanboy but before my 360 I was die hard Sony user and bought both the PS1 and PS2 on the day they were released but the way they have treated the UK is not on and so now Microsoft can have my hard earned cash.
