Motorcycle wearable airbags will save lives: Video is funny to watch

By: Daniel Chubb | March 25, 2008 | 1 Comment

We have a video below of people testing out new motorcycle wearable airbags which we must say will save lives, the video below shows motorcyclists crashing their bikes on purpose to show you how these airbags that you wear as a jacket work.

The video is very funny indeed to watch but yet still a very important way of showing what safety products to look out for in the future. You are the rider who wears this new suit that will inflate soon as you fall off your bike.

This product is apparently due around 2010, now watch the video below.

I think they need to expand their coverage area. I like the Idea of upper spine coverage, but the shoulder area seems to be of limited use. They are not attached well to the arms, and they moved too much after initial impact, looking like pillows. I like the idea of a cervical support/ brace it looked like it did it's job, although it seemed a little under-inflated. I don't know how practical it is going to be for everyday riders, as that video may seem impressive but there is no way around the truth; that the rider had a ton of money invested in his leathers and all the armor you can see bulging underneath. That's why he's walking away smiling, immune to the road-rash, and all the impact and abuse he would have taken on the knees, hips and elbows, ribs, etc.
