Hands-on with Sony PS3 update v2.20
It’s official, we now have the new PS3 update v2.20 and it’s been downloaded and installed…what’s new you may ask?

Lets Tell You:
Sadly there is no “Portable Copy”, which is a shame as I really wanted the ability to easily copy a Blu-ray film to the PSP (a smaller version obviously).

The improved features from PS3 firmware 2.20 include the ability to play Divx content that is over 2GB and play Divx video subtitles, starting playback from where you stopped on Blu-ray or DVD now works (although some discs do not support Resume Play).

The biggest improvement is the new BD Profile 2.0 for the PS3, this means the PlayStation 3 features BD-Live and that lets you connect to the internet via special Blu-ray discs to get related content to that movie/disc (first two out next month).

While Portable Copy is not yet a feature, you can now copy playlists from the PS3 and the content they contain to your Playstation Portable.

That’s all the new features we have found so far, if you know more then leave a comment. Did this update give you all you wanted?

Dissapointed… Was expecting the internet browser to have Flash 9 support. Still unable to visit sites as Hulu.com

well its is as much a games console as it is a media device. Why do ppl have an issue with this. LAME. as for games you can now play say pixel junk monsters on remote play and have the audio come though what ever your ps3 is connected too.

As far as i have heard “Portable Copy” is only available on a per disk basis and there has not been a BD yet that supports this. they are more than likely out later in the year and mostly supported by Sony Pictures at first.

Wow. I never thought about the browser in a long time but Shadowboricua is right on. SONY!

I could give a crap about portable copies. Better browser support is nice, but without flash support it’s a minor improvement at best. But what really irks me…

GIVE ME MY FREAKIN CROSS BAR!!!! I want to stream my music from my pc whilst I’m pwning bitches on COD4. I could do it out of the box with my 360, WHY IS THIS TAKING SO LONG?!? So many updates with so few improvements. No home. No XBM. No ingame ability to communicate with people outside the game you’re playing. I understand that PSN is free. I would GLADLY pay $60 a year to get this network where it needs to be. I wouldn’t be terribly happy about it, but give me a break, these should be considered URGENT REQUIREMENTS by Sony, not a casual improvement on a “when it gets done” schedule!
